Twin Farms

This is a five star place. All the reviews are right. I will try not to duplicate. We booked a 4 night stay in a Treehouse for the first week in October. We booked it almost a year in advance. Timing was perfect for the leaf peeping season. We chose this property so that we could drive (it is 8.5 hours from where we live in DE). We drove part way the first day and then arrive at lunchtime on our check in day to enjoy a beautiful lunch in the main house. By the time we were done lunch, our treehouse was ready. Even if it wasn’t there are plenty of things to do while waiting. We did not use our car again until the morning of our checkout. Our Treehouse was absolutely stunning. Fridge was totally stocked. If you needed ANYTHING you just had to call guest services. “No” is not a word in the staff’s vocabulary here. You do have a spiffy golf cart to drive around the property. The only thing that we didn’t like were the pillows. We did request different ones but they were no better. It’s a personal preference. It is so peaceful and quiet. Very clean and you never see housekeeping. Hiking trails were well marked and beautiful. We are avid hikers and they were not difficult for us. During our time there, we did just about all of them. We are also cyclists and tried out the E-bikes. Equipment was in pristine condition and we enjoyed them. If we come back we will plan on doing longer rides. We just did an 8 mile one and ended up at the Barnard Country store (pass on the store). We took out the canoe in the pond and also had a picnic lunch in Jake’s Fishing Shack. I did this based on other reviews and it is a MUST DO. We weren’t sure we were going to have time for the Onsen but another couple we met there said to make time. We did and it was so relaxing that we were wiped out for the rest of the afternoon. That was ok because we became addicted to the Stave puzzles. On the first day I had one brought to our room. I am typically not a puzzle person but have now been converted. You will have to read about them if interested. My husband and I spent hours and did three while there. No tv for us. Food, wine and cocktails were outstanding. We tried the main house, Twiggs, in room dining (breakfast on our departure day) and the Chef’s Table (extra charge for this). We preferred Twiggs bar and dining room. This is an incredible place and ranks in our top 3 of outstanding places we have been – I hope that we get the opportunity to return.

All the lists and reviews are true - Twin Farms is an exceptional place with exceptional service. Where else can you find such a beautiful property that’s all inclusive with unique accommodations and mostly adults only? Nowhere in the southeast, at least! Here’s what I wish I’d known before I stayed for 4 nights: Treehouse amenities (so you know what you don’t have to pack): coffee and espresso pods, tea bags, sweet and savory snacks, beverages (water, soda, iced tea, beer and wine/champagne), Dyson Super Sonic hair dryer, lighted magnifying mirror, makeup remover wipes, loofahs, Tressemme hair spray, shower cap, vanity kit, robes, slippers, shampoo and conditioner (they tangled my hair something terrible, so I’d recommend bringing your own), bath gel, body lotion, a safe, iron & ironing board, and wireless chargers on the bedside tables You get a golf cart to get around the property. Meals and almost all alcohol are included, and lunch can be served in the restaurant as a 3-course meal or delivered to your room as a boxed/picnic lunch. It took us a while to get used to the fact that we never had to sign a receipt! We really enjoyed the Onsen - yes, there were a few spiders/webs, but it’s a warm soaking pool in the middle of the woods, so that just gave it a touch of nature. The service was so great that when we asked for distilled water for my husband’s nasal rinse, they brought us a jug the same night. The website says the dress code is relaxed, smart country-casual, and I appreciated that almost everyone I saw was in jeans, joggers, hiking pants, flannels, sweaters, and athletic/hiking wear. I saw one dress at dinner, but I felt more than appropriate in a sweater and flowy black pants. Unlike many somewhat similar resorts we’ve stayed at, this one was truly relaxed and unpretentious, and I’ll bring far fewer “nice” clothes next time!

Twin Farms continues to impress, and our third visit reinforced many of the qualities that make the resort special. We returned to the Orchard cottage for its peaceful, secluded setting and beautiful location. Service remains a standout, the main dining room has been gorgeously updated, and the food was noticeably better than on our previous visit. We especially enjoyed dinner at Twiggs because of its broader variety of menu options. That said, there are a ew opportunities to elevate the experience further. The Orchard cottage feels dated and would benefit from a refresh, particularly updated furnishings in the main sitting area and improved lighting both there and at the bedside for reading. While the food has improved, the menus could offer more creativity and distinction for a Relais & Châteaux property. Overall, Twin Farms remains an exceptional retreat, with attentive service and a beautiful setting, but thoughtful updates to the accommodations and a more imaginative culinary approach would make the experience even stronger, particularly given the price point.

We had an amazing stay at Twin Farms! We stayed in a Treehouse Suite which we loved. The service was impeccable from our warm welcome to every employee we interacted with. Once they knew your name, we were always greeted by name. The food was outstanding at every meal. The grounds are so peaceful, it was such a relaxing escape. The hiking trails were well maintained and well marked. My only suggestion would be to indicate level of difficulty on the trail map as some trails have quite an elevation.

Absolutely perfect. Beautiful landscape, insanely good food and wine (and the chef's table!), a creative range of wonderful accommodations from the Sinclair Lewis "Red's room." to grand woodsy cottages, to luxe tree houses... ,and wonderful people who make good things happen (thank you Jason, thank you Michael). And more.
