Twin Farms

Twin Farms continues to impress, and our third visit reinforced many of the qualities that make the resort special. We returned to the Orchard cottage for its peaceful, secluded setting and beautiful location. Service remains a standout, the main dining room has been gorgeously updated, and the food was noticeably better than on our previous visit. We especially enjoyed dinner at Twiggs because of its broader variety of menu options. That said, there are a ew opportunities to elevate the experience further. The Orchard cottage feels dated and would benefit from a refresh, particularly updated furnishings in the main sitting area and improved lighting both there and at the bedside for reading. While the food has improved, the menus could offer more creativity and distinction for a Relais & Châteaux property. Overall, Twin Farms remains an exceptional retreat, with attentive service and a beautiful setting, but thoughtful updates to the accommodations and a more imaginative culinary approach would make the experience even stronger, particularly given the price point.

We had an amazing stay at Twin Farms! We stayed in a Treehouse Suite which we loved. The service was impeccable from our warm welcome to every employee we interacted with. Once they knew your name, we were always greeted by name. The food was outstanding at every meal. The grounds are so peaceful, it was such a relaxing escape. The hiking trails were well maintained and well marked. My only suggestion would be to indicate level of difficulty on the trail map as some trails have quite an elevation.

Absolutely perfect. Beautiful landscape, insanely good food and wine (and the chef's table!), a creative range of wonderful accommodations from the Sinclair Lewis "Red's room." to grand woodsy cottages, to luxe tree houses... ,and wonderful people who make good things happen (thank you Jason, thank you Michael). And more.

Twin Farms is difficult to describe. It completely turns the idea of an "all inclusive" resort upside down. Truly EVERYTHING is included. Amazing, world class meals, room service anytime day or night, fabulous premium wines and sprits from all over the world. Champagne anytime you would like it. Meals, snacks, wine, Champagne and beverages in your room and around the property, wherever and wherever you want them. One day they served my wife and I a picnic lunch down by the pond (or it could have been served at a dozen other little sitting nooks and picnic sites around the grounds). We had lobster rolls that were great, along with hummus and crudités and delicious home made cookies, served on a table cloth with ice cold beers. One evening we enjoyed Champaign, just for the two of us, at the "lift shack" venue (unbelievable view) before dining on a amazing 7 course tasting menu. Two very impressive restaurants, both of which are exceptional. A golf cart is included with your room for getting around the property. The staff will accommodate almost anything you can ask for. We stayed in a "tree house" villa which is possibly the most beautiful, secluded, private accommodation we have ever stayed in. It is spacious, comfortable and relaxing. The grounds encompass 300+ acres with delightful, well groomed and marked hiking trails and breathtaking vistas. Multiple little hidden sitting nooks and decks out in the middle of the woods make it seem like you have found a secret little hideaway. Twin Farms is certainly NOT INEXPENSIVE but for the level of service, quality of food and beverage, beautiful facilities and wonderful grounds, it is absolutely worth it.

Twin Farms is truly unique . The setting is spectacular, the accommodations are beautifully designed, and the staff is genuinely warm, kind, and eager to help. There is a wonderful sense of ease to the experience—you can spend your days exactly as you like, with activities available at your leisure and nearly everything included. It’s a very special property. Our cottage was thoughtfully appointed and incredibly comfortable. The design strikes a beautiful balance between rustic Vermont charm and sophistication. That said, it feels like it’s missing just a touch of understated luxury—the subtle details that distinguish a truly world-class luxury hotel from a very good one. That same theme carried through several aspects of our stay. Twin Farms excels at the big things but occasionally misses on the small touches that elevate an experience from memorable to extraordinary. One example was the onsen, which is marketed as a unique and tranquil experience. Because reservations are required, I expected it to be refreshed between guests. Instead, we arrived to find used towels and robes hanging from previous visitors, along with quite a few spiders. It didn’t feel serene or especially well cared for. A few thoughtful additions—fresh towels, a quick reset between reservations, soft music, infused water or light refreshments—would make this a much more memorable experience. We understand a new spa is under construction, and hopefully it will bring this level of attention to wellness experiences. Dining was another area where a little more guidance would go a long way. The food was excellent, but no one explained the wine program or mentioned that the kitchen is happy to prepare many off-menu dishes. Those are wonderful touches, but we only learned about them after overhearing another table. Guests should be introduced to these options so they can fully enjoy everything the property has to offer. The dining experience lacks a few touches that could make it great- the music was non existent at Twigs and strictly Frank Sinatra at the main dining room. The fitness center is another example. It’s surprisingly well equipped, but it’s entirely carpeted, which doesn’t feel particularly clean or appropriate for a luxury gym. Again, it’s a small detail, but details matter at this level. Despite these criticisms, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The people are lovely, the property is beautiful, and the overall concept is unlike anywhere else. With just a bit more attention to the finer details and guest experience, Twin Farms could easily be a five-star destination. We’d happily return and look forward to seeing how the new spa and continued improvements enhance an already very special place.
