The Grand Hotel Les Trois Rois

This hotel is situated in a beautiful historic building standing on the banks of the Rhine right in the centre of lovely Basel. Now in winter the lobby greats you with a warm cozy glow and many smiles and helpful hands. We are staying in an entry level room facing the city and we love it - the size is great and the historic furnishing is really lovely. We also really love the lobby cafe. There is always a table for guests of the hotel (Baur au Lac- listen up) and the service could not be nicer. The concierge is very helpful and knowledgeable. The experience is just perfect. At lunch today we will eat at the Cheval Blanc - that should be the crowning glory of a perfect experiences. Thank you so much for making us so welcome and happy.

My husband and I stayed three nights prior to a Christmas market river cruise. The hotel is so elegant. Our room was very spacious. The staff were outstanding. Breakfast was delicious. Christmas markets and shopping short walk. Highly recommend. We loved every bit of it.

At this point in my life, I travel extensively for pleasure (for many years it was for business as well). The Hotel Les Trois Rois was one of the most extraordinary hotel experiences I’ve had in my lifetime, and I’ve stayed in hundreds of hotels. Every last detail had been anticipated and executed to the finest degree. This is absolutely the best hotel choice you can make in Basel. Multiple locals commented to us that we were staying in the finest hotel offered. Book immediately, you will not be detained.

We were staying in Hotel Marthof, very close to it. During our Old Town walking tour, our local guide brought us here with the permission of reception staff. This newly rebuilt hotel opened in 2006. It was a huge and luxurious hotel. It is located on the left banks of Rhine River with amazing view. Almost all important destinations of Old town are within walking distance.

Second time at this hotel and this time it was very busy due to music festival. Lots of cabs waiting outside hotel to catch a glimpse of bands. As a solo traveller I was asked a few times what I was doing in reception- I was waiting for uber! It felt a little rude. Also the breakfast service was not as good as last time, a few errors in my order and space felt cramped and service rushed. But the hotel is beautiful, I think they were literally too full!
