Chateau la Cheneviere is closing its doors this winter, in order to prepare for its reopening in March 2025. A big thank you to all our customers and partners for this wonderful 2024 season.
Set close to Omaha Beach and the historic town of Bayeux, Port en Bessin conceals a treasure that lies at the end of a long drive " Chateau La Cheneviere ". Impeccable lawns, ancient trees and a charmingly old-fashioned rose garden... arriving on the estate is like strolling onto the lands of an English Lord who fell under the spell of Calvados region. The manor appears at last, a dignified Norman edifice from the 18th century, it combines the charms of an old house with the conveniences of a cosy English Manor. Discover the two restaurants, Le Botaniste, the gastronomic restaurant open every evening from Tuesday to Saturday, where Chef Didier Robin's cuisine invites you to a fine dining experience and Le Petit Jardin our bistronomic restaurant awaiting for you in la Cheneviere's old conservatory. The menu focuses on fresh, high-quality products, all locally sourced from the Château's vegetable garden. Le Petit Jardin is open from Thursday to Monday for lunch and dinner.

A beautiful chateau on acres of lush expansive property. The rooms are beautifully decorated and very comfortable and clean. The service was excellent. There are 2 Michelin recommended restaurants which are excellent. The noise level was acceptable. A very old building can have a few creaks. The chateau is 10 minutes from Bayeux which has many more good restaurants. It is typical value for a 5 star property. The only rip off was breakfast at 32 euros which, unfortunately, is typical for hotels.

Absolutely stunning chateau in the Normandy region of France. This is the perfect location for anyone interested in WWII History. Well located, excellent appointments in the room with 2 great restaurants on property. There is a great pool, tennis courts and parklike grounds.

When you think about Normandy and what you imagine it will be, this hotel captures it perfectly. A beautiful chateau in the countryside, but very close to some lovely restaurants, and just a short drive to the D Day beaches. The grounds are beautiful, and the lobby and bar area are small yet lovely. Our room was on the small side, but clean and well decorated. Breakfast was very good. Highly, highly recommend this establishment if you want the true Normandy countryside experience.

The hotel has large and beautifully kept grounds. The outdoor pool is large. The room we had was good, but not great. The main restaurant has fabulous breakfasts and dinners.

The rooms ate 3 stars at the most. Dirty, old. Paint is coming off, rusted lamps, hair dryer with a push button- like in an 1980 motel ... spiders and bugs. Extra blanket that looks from the last centurt, an old safe. Bathroom is cheap and broken. Bed is old and looks bad. See it all in the pics and enlarge them for a closer look. Also room door has no shade so the light from the outside is not letting u sleep. The restaurant served food with no taste, i couldn't believe it's made in France. DON'T SAY YOU WERE NOT WARNED!!
