Chateau la Cheneviere is closing its doors this winter, in order to prepare for its reopening in March 2025. A big thank you to all our customers and partners for this wonderful 2024 season.
Set close to Omaha Beach and the historic town of Bayeux, Port en Bessin conceals a treasure that lies at the end of a long drive " Chateau La Cheneviere ". Impeccable lawns, ancient trees and a charmingly old-fashioned rose garden... arriving on the estate is like strolling onto the lands of an English Lord who fell under the spell of Calvados region. The manor appears at last, a dignified Norman edifice from the 18th century, it combines the charms of an old house with the conveniences of a cosy English Manor. Discover the two restaurants, Le Botaniste, the gastronomic restaurant open every evening from Tuesday to Saturday, where Chef Didier Robin's cuisine invites you to a fine dining experience and Le Petit Jardin our bistronomic restaurant awaiting for you in la Cheneviere's old conservatory. The menu focuses on fresh, high-quality products, all locally sourced from the Château's vegetable garden. Le Petit Jardin is open from Thursday to Monday for lunch and dinner.

Absolutely magnificent stay! From entrance and reception, accommodation and facilities, gastronomy and staff: all equally “excellente”… Special commendation to Ambre the bar lady, who made not only outstanding house-cocktails (The Botanist is my favorite), but showed to master the classics as well, with or without a twist. Rooms clean and beautifully maintained in the Manor’s style, excellent beds, hot and powerful showers. Lovely park and pool, Tennis if you are up for it. Beautiful restaurants with equally beautiful kitchen, and, noblesse oblige, a stellar wine selection. For us, our new home base for our Normandy and D-day adventures, Will be back for sure…

Very nice, quiet relaxed setting. Easily walkable to Port-en-Bessin-Huppain. The staff were very friendly and the restaurants on site were excellent while the breakfast was also very good. I would recommend a car if coming here for easier access to villages further away although we were able to take a taxi to Bayeux quite easily arranged through the concierge. I loved the historical feel of the place. I would recommend it to anyone.

So special! We spent 5 nights at Chateau La Cheneviere, using it as a base for our travels in the area. It is such a beautiful estate with an interesting history. Our room was beautiful, with a very comfortable bed and amenities. We enjoyed strolling the grounds and relaxing by the pool at the end of one of our tour days. The staff was quite nice. Breakfast delicious. We did dine at Botaniste one night and while the food presentation was beautiful, the flavors were off and food not cooked quite right. We had a car and parking was easy and we drove to Bayeaux for dinner the other evenings. Easy to park in the center of Bayeaux, even at the end of June. We strolled into Port en Bessin for lunch on our arrival day -- interesting walk. We would recommend this hotel for romantic couples and families! Smiles from all at breakfast.

This is an exquisite hotel with beautifully manicured grounds. I must confess that the lunch we just had was abominable. Presentation and taste were both lacking, and sadly the dessert was inedible. This is France and Wendy and I cannot imagine why it wasn’t a more enjoyable meal.
