Great service/staff/ amenities/location … horrible stay experience due to smoke/renovation/toxic smells.

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 days ago

Location was excellent… atmosphere was great… Room itself was very clean… the staff service was top notch and probably the only reason I don’t leave a 1star. The housekeeping maid service was best I ever received. The BAD part- the early morning renovation was horrible , could not sleep, very very loud drilling/hammering starts early, no way Anyone can sleep. Then in the hallway to rooms in the afternoon , there is this burnt toxic burning metal smell which I’m assuming is from the renovation. This is on top of the fact that the hallways is filled with cigarette smoke almost every night of my stay. They moved me to a new level after I complained about smoking, then the following day, the level they moved me to, smelled like smoke. The cigarette smell didn’t seem to penetrate the room but it was still horrible to walk through because I was traveling with 3 kids. Nothing the staff could do, but the hotel management really should not be selling this room. And they need to do a better job of keeping a “ smoke free floor”- Smoke Free. All the staff from bell desk/front desk/ maid/gym was perfect. The room I booked was a 1 br apt.

Good choice in Wangfujing. Location location location.

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 5 days ago

We stayed in a 2-bedroom apartment at this hotel. Location is in Wangfujing and very close to the Wangfujing pedestrian street -- super convenient for shopping. The room was large, generally well-appointed. Service was consistently warm and friendly throughout our entire stay. This is overall a solid choice for the area. I would come here again. However, given this hotel is in a fairly competitive market, I'm not sure what sets this hotel apart from other similarly situated hotels.

Club lounge Harry the best but not up to GH standards or international

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

As a whole this is not up to GH standards and can be seen as the reviews here place it behind most Marriotts and Hilton’s and even well behind the local Hyatt regency. The hotel is only focused on locals and government and hence virtually no one can speak English! The highlight of the hotel and why I have come back 3 times in 4 months is Harry as assistant club lounge manager who is the best in the world and beats any ritz Carlton or St Regis or anywhere i have stayed. His service is exceptional throughout and makes sure all perfect in advance and during stay and is fun to interact with. He really is the face of the hotel. Club lounge itself is a beautiful space but not up to brand standards. Breakfast closes at 10am and which is unheard of. Afternoon tea is good! Evening hours are ridiculous at 1730 to 1930 (Marriott 2130) and zero snacks after and which is unheard of on any Hyatt. Drinks selection is appalling with 1 wine of each, maybe 4 spirits and random beer - I don’t think I’ve seen any hotel with less than 2 each wine! On the whole, few speak English and even ordering a basic egg is hard work and people stare blankly! Highlight of club lounge team is closing at breakfast and evening food on the dot and all staff spring into action despite being pretty poor rest of the time. Club lounge food used to be better but the last months, the meat is dry with no sauces and there is no variety of desserts - I think chefs have given up! Nothing changes or had their budget cut - there is no pride v say at HR Shenzhen where live chef will cook freshly and adapt. The swimming pool is outstanding and probably one of best you can find anywhere. Gym is very good and has all you need but has quite a few outside members but has never impacted me as they are polite. Pool is a nightmare with local children on Saturdays but the rest of the time is peaceful Hotel itself is quite soulless as not like other GH with bars or HR with live music. Very odd for a Hyatt. The premium apartments are outstanding and I really enjoy. Also housekeeping are some of the best. Overall, it’s a mixed hotel and probably not one for international people. Some serious improvements are needed in staffing and club lounge offerings and which are more aligned with a basic crowne plaza. GH Bangkok and GH HK and even GH KL are much better offerings and more flexible as not like the military at closing food. Nonetheless, no hotel could beat the service of Harry as he has made every stay and when he works, the club lounge is a very different and more pleasant environment.

Very good. We enjoyed staying here.

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

We came here only for 1 night while was transit to Japan. We've got very big 2 bedrooms room and it was perfect. We also had 2 bathrooms and one living room. Everything was perfect here. Also breakfast. The benefit is that It is very comfortable that you have shopping mall on the first floor of your hotel :)
