With beautifully designed accommodations and a location within the famous Gendarmenmarkt, Hilton Berlin offers the perfect venue to begin your adventure in Germany's capital. A short drive from the city's two major airports, our hotel is within walking distance of Berlin's major attractions, like the French and German Cathedrals and the concert house.

The location is excellent, close to most key sites in Berlin and well connected to the public transport system. All the staff we came across were efficient and friendly. Our standard room was clean and functional, but dated. Everything worked and was well maintained, however. The bathroom was clean and acceptable, but also needs updating. The corridors, however, were in a shocking state – all scuffed, wallpaper peeling and skirting boards coming off. I cannot remember the last time I saw public areas of a supposedly luxury hotel in such a bad shape. Presumably the ongoing refurbishment will address this, but it is poor to allow facilities to deteriorate like this. The breakfast area felt very temporary due to the main dining room being under refurbishment, but there was enough space and the selection was good. We were surprised to be asked for EUR14 to use the sauna, but at least the small pool is included in the price. The stay was good value, but I wouldn’t be rushing back until the refurb is completed. As we stayed on a weekend we weren’t bothered by the construction noise.

Clean and serviced timely every morning. My only negative was the air conditioning - it was quite warm in the room overnight despite having it on the lowest temperature.

This is my third stay at the Berlin Hilton. I stayed for 5 days in the summer of 2023, 14 days last year, and am toward the end of a 16-day stay this summer. I am also a Hilton Diamond member. My experience here has been quite positive – the staff has always been helpful and friendly. The hotel is currently renovating its executive lounge and breakfast area, which I consider a minor issue, not a major one. The rooms I have had have always been nicely appointed, with great showers; housekeeping has always been good and dependable. Their fitness center is good – it has a Smith Machine, barbell rack, hi-low pulley, two stair machines, three or four treadmills, one elliptical, one rowing machine, and two Peloton bikes. It also has medicine balls, a TRX, barbells (topping out at 18kg), and four weight machines (bench press, lateral pulldown, leg press, and abductor/adductor machine). I have not used the pool or spa. Breakfast is great, with a variety of options. The temporary space can get a bit crowded on weekends, but you can use the overflow room upstairs, which offers the same food, except for made-to-order omelets which are only available in the main breakfast area. I have had no issues during the week in the main area. The temporary executive lounge is also on the first floor and is adequate. The food is a bit of a downgrade from the regular executive lounge experience – there is no soup, as there usually is, and the hot dish is not as varied from day to day. I assume these will be available again when the executive lounge reopens. In the meantime, I have found that the temporary space that meets my needs – it is generally quiet except from 6pm to 8pm when the food is available. It’s just not as nice as the usual executive lounge. I currently have a grand residence room, which is really a three room flat. The door between the bedroom and the living room does not open or close. I did have to complain a couple of times to get a clear answer, which is that repairing it is complicated. They offered to move us to a very nice one-bedroom suite with a great view, but we declined the offer. I appreciated the alternative, even if we stayed put. In previous stays, I had a regular room, which was nicely appointed with a good desk, and a two-room residence, also very nice. You can also play Netflix easily on the TV in the room. The hotel is located across the street from the Gendarmenmarkt, a beautiful square. There is a supermarket (Rewe) one block away, and Museum Island is within walking distance, as is the Topography of Terror Museum and Jewish Museum. A subway stop is literally a few feet from the hotel’s front door. Finally, this is a large hotel (approximately 600 rooms), so I imagine there will be some issues with certain rooms from time to time. In general, however, this is an excellent hotel.

Air conditioning doesn’t work. Lots of noise due to construction in the floor above. At check in I wasn’t informed that there is very noisy construction work being done every day an d all day in the floor above my room. The air conditioning is very loud but doesn’t cool at all. I have to rate this as a very poor performance of a Hilton Hotel.

We visited here last month. Absolutely loved Berlin and the hotel location. Unfortunately definitely not a 5 ☆,hotel. Reception staff were rude on arrival. We arrived too late to have a drink in the bar and the shop in the lobby where you can buy drinks had all the fridges turned off!!! Room was ok. Bathroom had hairs all over it. Concierge were fantastic!! Location is fabulous. Would return to berlin but Hilton hotels are not a patch on what they used to be Unfortunately.
