Originally built in the 1930’s, SO/ Berlin Das Stue’s diplomatic legacy is evident in the heritage building’s stately architecture and modernist façade, designed by German architect Johann Emil Schaudt (1871-1957) and inspired by Danish classicism. Located in Berlin’s diplomatic quarter, Das Stue was renovated to invoke a calming ambiance, with open spaces and contemporary minimalist design. The Potsdam based firm Axthelm Architekten added a new wing on the building’s former back courtyard, which is clad in a floral patterned photo concrete surface acting as an elegant counterbalance to the rough dressed stone of the main building. While Patricia Urquiola artistically directed and designed all public spaces and fluidly integrated shared spaces such as the lobby, cocktail bar and restaurants, LVG Arquitectura finalized the interior room and suite design.

After our stay, I noticed that a significant number of negative Google reviews were no longer visible. Whether they were removed by Google or deleted for another reason, the overall rating no longer reflected the concerns we experienced. Had those reviews still been visible, we would likely have chosen a different hotel.

We booked two nights at The Stue and left after the first. While the hotel has an excellent location in the historic embassy district next to Tiergarten, and the staff were always friendly, polite and genuinely helpful, the overall experience was very disappointing. The main issue was the air conditioning. It didn't work in our suite, so we were moved to another room. Unfortunately, the air conditioning there didn't work either. Despite setting it to 18°C and leaving it running all night, the room stayed around 28°C, making it almost impossible to sleep. The replacement room was also much smaller than the suite we had booked and had only a tiny floor-level window, so dirty that there was virtually no view. Spider webs around the window did not inspire confidence. The following morning we were offered yet another room, but we were told it simply needed time for the air conditioning to cool down. That should have been done before asking guests to move into the room. After a sleepless night, we decided to cancel our second night. Breakfast was another disappointment. We arrived about an hour before closing, but nearly half of the buffet had already disappeared and was not replenished. Finally, for a hotel in this price category, not having on-site parking is surprising. Street parking is available if you're lucky, but it still costs more than €40 per day. To the hotel's credit, they allowed us to cancel the second night without penalty. Even so, paying around €530 for one uncomfortable night, plus €45 for parking, represents poor value. A beautiful building, a great location and excellent staff cannot compensate for a non-functioning air-conditioning system in summer. Unfortunately, we cannot recommend The Stue based on our experience.

From the moment I arrived at Das Stue Berlin, I felt less like a hotel guest and more like I was being welcomed home by family. This magnificent historic property is breathtaking in every way, but what truly distinguishes it is its extraordinary people. The entire Front Office team, Reception staff, Bellhops, Concierge team, and Management deliver hospitality at its finest—with warmth, professionalism, and a genuine desire to make every guest feel special. Every interaction was seamless, thoughtful, and personalized, creating an atmosphere that is both luxurious and deeply inviting. A heartfelt thank you goes to Mattia and Felix William, Guest Relations Managers, who are simply exceptional. Their joy, energy, and passion for the history of this remarkable property are contagious. They have a rare gift for making guests feel not only welcomed, but truly at home. Their kindness, attentiveness, and sincere interest in creating meaningful experiences transform a wonderful stay into an unforgettable one. They embody the very essence of hospitality and make Das Stue feel less like a hotel and more like a beloved home away from home. I would also like to recognize several team members who provided outstanding guest service throughout our stay. Jacopo, Julian, Joanna, Giovanni, and May consistently went above and beyond with their warm smiles, gracious attitudes, and thoughtful attention to detail. Their professionalism and genuine care contributed immensely to the comfort and enjoyment of our visit. Special appreciation goes to the Engineering Department, particularly Dan and Ariy, who promptly ensured that our television and soundbar were functioning perfectly. Their quick response and dedication to guest satisfaction added an extra touch of comfort and romance to our stay, allowing us to relax and fully enjoy our time together. The Food & Beverage Team was equally impressive. Bev, Benny, Lily, Rose, Adnan, and Aru delivered impeccable service with enthusiasm, attentiveness, and warmth. Whether at breakfast, cocktails, or simply enjoying the atmosphere of the hotel, they elevated every dining experience and made us feel genuinely cared for. Das Stue Berlin is far more than a luxury hotel—it is a destination filled with heart, history, passion, and an incredible team of individuals who truly love what they do. Thank you to everyone for creating such joyful and lasting memories. I leave with immense gratitude and look forward to returning to what now feels like my home in Berlin. With heartfelt appreciation, Daniela DeSantis

What an incredible experience. We just left the hotel . First of all the location is beautiful. Room 127 has a wall of windows looking out into a petting zoo with an ostrich poking its head around , the ghazzals etc. looking at the animals roaming around was beautiful. The staff were beyond kind. Julienne at front desk helped us load up our car and squeeze all our suitcases into our car. Goal at the front desk was so helpful finding us a car to rent. Parvin the chef and the new addition GOLAB and all the other staff members that I don’t know their names.

We stayed at Das Stue in Berlin for a weekend and really enjoyed it. The rooms are spacious and thoughtfully curated, ours faced the Tiergarten and even overlooked two donkeys, which was a fun and unexpected touch. Although we didn’t spend much time in the room since we were mostly out exploring the city, it was a very comfortable place to come back to. The common areas, especially the lobby and bar, are beautifully designed and feel relaxed rather than formal. The cocktails at the bar were excellent, and it was a great spot to pause for a drink. We also used the spa, which is well done and straightforward, with a nice swimming pool and sauna. The Susanne Kaufmann signature massage was particularly pleasant and relaxing. The bike rentals were a great addition - we ended up cycling into the city every day and night, and riding through the park right next to the hotel was especially enjoyable. The location worked really well for us: quiet, facing the park, and slightly removed from the main tourist areas while still being easy to reach everything. Overall, a fantastic stay and somewhere we would happily return.
