Solid hotel near shopping and restaurants

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

Fairly typical modern hotel with generous sized rooms that are well maintained. Location is about a 15-20 minute walk to shopping and restaurants. Breakfast is nicely done.

Below average Sheraton expereience

To start with, this hotel like many other reviews indicated, feels OLD and OUTDATED. It may have been a great hotel at one point (like in the 90's) but facilities have since been somewhat neglected and obviously not been well maintained. Location wise, while this hotel is in a quiet neighborhood, it is no way in a "convenient" spot. In fact, I have to consider the hotel to be in a "nothing around" neighborhood, with no markets, stores or interesting landmarks immediately around the premise. The closest subway station is about 10-12 minute walk (although there is a bus nearby). Basically if you check into this hotel, you will have to eat, drink and spend your money all inside the hotel. Not ideal. Size of guestrooms is OK but dirty old carpet, worn furniture and decor could have used a fresh makeover. Staff is not super friendly either and did not even acknowledge my premier status. To add salt to the wound, they took away the room upgrade offered to me from a week ago: and I checked in at a normal time at 3pm so it is not like I arrived super late and all rooms were taken! Cleaning service was also highly questionable. I was out one day before 10am and upon returning to hotel around 4pm, my room was left untouched and uncleaned. Then the 2nd day I returned but only discovered the room was half cleaned - bed made, garbage emptied out but dirty towels/mugs not replaced. I had to personally go out to ask for a new set of towels, fresh bottle of water and coffee/tea supply on my own. Quality of service is clearly lacking. The only plus point is, Sheraton does serve great breakfast (as part of the elite member benefits) and food quality is great. Overall, the experience at this Sheraton is subpar and below standard. Now I understand why it was the cheapest hotel among all city-centered Marriott properties when I made the booking. It is not the worst hotel I have encountered but it is just disappointing considering this is a Sheraton, where you usually expect higher quality and better service. Most likely I will not return to this hotel in the future.

Wrong season wrong decision

great hotel when you need a stay for arguments, breakfast ok but breakfast room super cold need to drink and eat fast otherwise have only cold food, i guess heating cost to high for old structure hotel design, gym freezing cold, no pool available, how it can be 5 star rating? lobby very dark - should looks cossy but so dark to hide old furniture etc services not good, i get upgraded to suit room but while checking in the info was sorry we don’t have now , bad communication from marriot bonvoy so you must take normal room or you go others, thats with a platinum elite status from the group ! Das ist Deutsche Gastfreundlichkeit!

Convenient and comfortable in the heart of Berlin

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

The Sheraton Esplanade Berlin is well located, with easy access to major attractions and shopping areas, which makes it very convenient for visitors. The property itself would benefit from some refurbishment and a general facelift, as parts of it feel a bit dated. That said, the service truly stands out. A special thanks to Front Desk Manager Robin Michailow, who went out of his way to ensure a comfortable stay. He handled everything with great care, from the room setup to arranging a heater and even personally assisting with room service. His attention and dedication made a real difference. The breakfast is excellent, and the rooms have a classic German style with proper windows and even balconies, which is a real plus.

Clean, basic, sub-par

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 months ago

Stayed a few nights for business. Staff were nice, everything was clean. But there’s definitely a few simple tweaks they could make to ensure comfort. - I don’t book a king bed to have two small single comforters on the bed and have to make the bed before I can sleep. A king bed needs a king size comforter, it’s not a difficult concept. You’re not being funky or efficient, it’s simply annoying and uncomfortable. - the pillows also are useless. - You have two main functions as a hotel, beds and showers. You fail at both with the shower in a narrow bath that splashes all over the floor. - towels small and threadbare and only a single towel in the room. - very limited food available Overall I would not stay at this hotel again and will now question ever booking a Sheraton. It is not horrible, just not very functional for showers and sleeping which is the entire purpose.
