As the official guesthouse of the Swiss government, the Bellevue Palace has been a place of living history for over 150 years. It is the only Grand Hotel in the heart of the Swiss Capital and offers magnificent lounges, superb views of the Bernese Alps and heartfelt hospitality, making of it an exceptional landmark and a unique address. The hotel is an iconic venue for diplomats and politicians and a common meeting hub for the whole of Bern. Enjoy “la Belle Vie” at the Bellevue Palace.

Okay, so this is our second stay - and thus second review - of the magnificent Bellevue Palace, Bern. 9 years apart. So what has changed and what is the same? Firstly, the fantastic location of the hotel will always make it a brilliant option for anyone wanting to stay in the heart of the action in Bern. It is literally a block away from the famous Zytglogge and iconic streets and across the street from the Casino and walking distance to the parliament. The public areas of the hotel are superb, featuring all the Belle Epoque features that make this hotel famous. Our room, as it was in 2017, features an incredible river view. The only significant change to the room has been the change from carpet to parquetry which adds a classy touch. The furniture has been upgraded too. The bathroom however appears to be the same as 2017. We were greeted with a complimentary drink on arrival in 2017, this time we were not. There was complimentary Bern branded chocolate bars in 2017, but they appear to have been discontinued it seems. The staff from 2017 who made such a deep impression on us, in Jost, Roberto, Ricardo and Samuel are all gone - either retired or working elsewhere. The staff was again good, but not quite to the same memorable level as 2017. Certainly not a criticism. The terrace is superb and will always be a major selling point, as is the stunning Art Nouveau glass dome in the lobby. The river view is to die for. Thus, the Bellevue Palace will always attract those wanting to experience all the positives the hotel has to offer. We would not hesitate to stay here again.

My daughter treated me to a lovely and delicious tea for Mother's day. It was outstanding. Beautiful sandwiches, pastry and of course tea. The dining area was so elegant. Service was wonderful. There is an outside terrace but the day was too windy. The view is truly Bellevue.

The hotel was simply wonderful. The service was excellent and impeccable from beginning to end. Everything was top-level, exactly what you would expect from a luxury property. Every detail was carefully thought out, and the atmosphere was elegant and refined. A truly beautiful experience that I highly recommend.

This hotel is a historic gem, a truly unique place where every detail holds special significance. Housed in an ancient building with rich heritage, it is located right next to the Federal Parliament of Switzerland. The rooms are spacious, the bed is super comfortable and the shower excellent. The food and service is like in the old good times. The hotel has also a terrace overlooking the Aare River, the Kirchenfeld bridge, and the distant Bernese Alps.

A spectacular view from our 219 room. Every aspects of the hotel is at the top, including a warm hospitality. Our next time in Bern we hope to stay in the same room of this magnificent building.
