Location good, some staff need work

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 7 hours ago

The hotel is fine. I would say if all of the staff could be like Jennifer and Majeed, it would be amazing. Our first room was fine. It was clean, but smelled of recent smoking. We asked for another room (same room type), but were told by one staff member that we could only be moved to a lower room type, as that was all that was available - we understand that can happen. However, no apology from that staff member or an offer of a reduced room cost. I did question what was offered, as we had paid for a non-smoking room, which would have had to have been checked by housekeeping. We went downstairs to speak to Jennifer (who had originally helped us to check in and provided excellent customer service). Jennifer quickly found us another room (the same room type that we had paid for). I am not sure why the first staff member did not offer this. In any case, Jennifer provided excellent customer service. The bar was fine. The live music was fabulous on one of the nights. The other night, the bar was lifeless, and the bar staff were just okay. The staff is hit or miss. Some, like Jennifer and Majeed, are amazing; others are subpar. Get the staff right, and with the location, you will have an excellent property.

Don’t expect 5 star treatment or facilities here. Hotel is going through refurbishment

We booked our one-night through Accor Life Limitless, which included breakfast. And when we checked-in and asked, the staff who checked us in, said no breakfast. Because the booking was made by my friend, we checked her booking later that night and went back to the counter and Marco the Duty Manager then double-checked and said we were entitled to only a US$45 per pax on ala carte items. And breakfast here is only ala carte and will cost you more than $45 if you have juice and coffee. But the worst part of our stay was that the hotel is undergoing renovations on the lower floors and this was not made know on their website. So be prepared for pavement drop-offs and a construction zone lobby/driveway.

5 Stars – Excellent Security by Kent Kent at Sofitel Beverly Hills was outstanding—professional, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. He made me feel safe and taken care of from the moment I arrived. His presence added a real sense of comfort throughout my stay. A true asset to the hotel!

The Sofitel has the best staff in the world!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

I was an evacuee of the Palisades Fire and spent several weeks at the Sofitel. In the middle of my time there, I had to have major surgery. To say that this was one of the most stressful and scary times of my life is putting it mildly. I don't think I have ever felt more vulnerable... emotionally, physically, and financially. The kindness, warmth, and generosity I felt every day from every single member of the staff at Sofitel was a godsend. They all allowed me a safe space and I never felt alone. They made the Sofitel feel like home. Jojie, Darling, and all of the housekeeping staff took such good care of me every day, checking on me to see how I was feeling after my surgery and even sending me little fruit plates. My bed was always fresh and cozy with wonderful linens and a blissfully comfortable mattress. It was the best place to recover from surgery. To go down to the lobby every day was always a happy experience. My pup, Lula Mae, and I were always greeted with smiles from Adonis, Nestor, Luis, Carlos, Zervando, Eric, V, Francis and the entire lobby staff. When I had to go to the doctor, Eric even went upstairs to check on Lula Mae, giving me much needed peace of mind. The staff at the front desk was always so helpful and kind. Lula Mae and I always stopped to say hi to Mathilde, Majed, Alex, George, Emily, Nina, Jennifer, Miranda, Deeda, Hania, and Eddie. They were always quick to love on Lula Mae and provide treats. We also loved all our friends in the valet parking... Halle, Enrique, and Willy. They took such good care of my car and always hustled to get me on my way in a timely manner, managing inclement weather and heavy traffic. There are so many others whose names I am embarrassed not to remember, but whose faces are in my mind and my heart. There is not a single person at this hotel that didn't make us feel special. We miss all of you. You provided a real home to me and Lula Mae in the darkest of times. Thank you and may God bless you.

Disappointed

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 weeks ago

On the plus side reception were friendly and efficient and the concierge was excellent. The room was clean and comfortable. However we were disappointed with the restaurant. We had breakfast there both mornings included in our package. Very limited choice, not sure if that was because it was a package? You could have bacon or sausages with eggs and hash brown, or you could have a croissant or you could have porridge etc. No mixing and matching. Waiters friendly but slow and disorganised. Did not get our orange juice until after our cooked meal was delivered for example. Had one dinner there which also had limited choice. No lunch available or service by the pool. I felt I was staying in a three star hotel rather than 4 star. Did not live up to my expectations after the reviews I had read.
