Reviews for Sofitel Los Angeles at Beverly Hills

No medical accommodations and adversarial management

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

The service here is abysmal. On her doctor's recommendation, I chose to bring my mom here after a major surgery during her recovery and, when I asked for a small accommodation to ensure that she could go directly between rooms and stay in bed, I was suddenly told that the room we'd booked was no longer available for the remainder of our stay. No rational explanation was provided for this sudden unavailability, and the room miraculously became available only after I complained to management, which was very adversarial and rude. We'd also negotiated a discounted rate through the doctor and that rate was not honored when the new room was provided. Again, the explanation provided for the rate change did not make sense. Don't bother staying here, especially if you need medical accommodations.

I will never forget the truly loving care and service from the entire staff, and especially from Darling

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

My husband and I are staying at the Sofitel hotel in Beverly Hills because it is right across the street from Cedars Sinai Hospital. I recently had a very complicated heart surgery, and have to stay in the LA area for two weeks before I can be released to go back home to the San Francisco Bay area. We stayed at this hotel prior to my surgery, and were amazed at the customer service: from the front desk, bellhops, room services, and the hostess in the restaurant as well as the servers. We kept commenting over and over to each other how incredibly kind everyone was. This is not your usual hotel customer service. What I want to write about right now is something that happened that I will never forget, and it brings me to tears as I write this. I am still in this hotel and I have been in a lot of pain and unable to leave the room for meals. It’s a very very comfortable room. I’m very happy to be here. One evening, while in bed and while my husband was downstairs in the restaurant getting dinner for me, there was a knock on the door for turn down service. At first, I did not want her to come in because frankly, I was not a very pretty sight lol! But the young lady said no worries. She would just come in, freshen the beds and the towels and I could just stay in the bed or sit on the couch whatever made me comfortable. I asked her name. I thought she said Darlene, but learned later that her name is Darling. How beautiful and appropriate for this lovely young lady. She freshened around, helped me fill out a ticket to get some laundry done, and while she did her tasks in the room, she gently asked me questions about my heart surgery. I told her a little bit about what was going on. She was very sweet, told me she hoped I would feel better soon and left. About an hour later, there was a knock on our door. It was Darling. She asked if she could come in and she was carrying a tray with a beautiful bowl of fresh fruit, and some big bottles of really good sparkling and Stillwater. It was set up so nicely and she put it in front of me as I was sitting up at the table and I had just finished dinner. She said, “I wanted to bring this to you. I hope you feel better soon.” I started to cry. I was so touched by this very simple gesture of kindness. I am crying as I dictate this post. My husband and I thanked her over and over, he tried to give her a tip but she refused it saying, “I do this out of love, thank you but I don’t want a tip.” I am a spiritual person, and I know that Darling was sent as a comfort and a kindness, as me and my husband have really had a very difficult time the best several weeks with this surgery. If the folks at the Sofitel read this review, you have an absolute gem of an employee in Darling. She is so much more than an employee, she is a loving, kind and giving Being of Light. ( We ALL are this, but Darling’s Light shines very brightly!) I hope she is always rewarded generously! She deserves it! And I will never forget her. I’ve told so many family and friends already about Darling and the rest of your staff. Thank you to the entire hotel staff. You have been nothing short of wonderful and have made this very difficult experience with the surgery a little more bearable, as comfortable as possible under the circumstances, and so memorable thanks especially to Darling.

Great place to stay especially if need to be close to Cedars Sinai

Stayed at Sofitel across from Cedars Sinai to recover from back surgery. The entire staff was so friendly, helpful and accommodating. Willy was the valet on duty and could not been more personable and helpful especially with local information.

Terrible for business, mediocre for personal

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

It's a very mixed bag. First and foremost, for any business traveler, let me save you. The WiFi across the ENTIRE hotel is perhaps the slowest speeds I have ever witnessed in a hotel. The WiFi on a plane is faster than the Sofitel. I tried to switch to a different room in the hopes that it would be a better solution, and it was the same. I had to walk across the street to go onto the Beverly Center WiFi to download files. So if you are there for business and need a reliable connection, avoid avoid avoid. Now the rooms - they are decent. I had a room with a "Hollywood Hills View" and it was on the 5th floor overlooking a loud fan. I had asked maintenance to help with the noise because the weather stripping on the Juliet balcony door had worn away but nothing was taken care of. Instead, I took a piece of plastic every night over the side of the door to insulate the noise. Location, very convenient. Staff, very nice. Rooms, mediocre and dated. The WiFi, however, avoid.

Easy location for LA

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

Great location, expensive, albeit a bit run down for the price we paid. Heating didn't work for the first 2 days, and then finally got fixed on our last night. We had booked a room with a terrace, but despite it being cold, the reason we never sat outside was that there was some sort of compressor or air-conditioner running all day and it was super noisy. Would possibly consider staying again, but in a different room.
