Wow! The Sofitel did not disappoint. After a frustrating 6 hours in the car we were greeted by the valet team who helped us with our bags and seamlessly took our car away. We were checked in by the lovely Dora who gave us a full rundown of the area, the hotel and gave us tips for our 3 days in Los Angeles. We were taken up to our room alongside our cases and we were provided a small tour of the room. Overall the stay was very nice and I would definitely recommend this is a location for staying in the Hills. Pros: - The SOFTEST bed you will ever sleep in. I swear it was like sleeping on a cloud - Amazing large shower with good pressure and rainfall feature - Ample space to move around - Great view of the Beverly Hills and a distant view of the Hollywood sign - Great location - a real middle point for all the sights in LA - Friendly staff who provided a great service - Nice bar with seating area with fire places and entertainment. Offered a wide variety of drinks. Cons: - Building is currently under refurbishment, meaning that mainly in the front lobby there was a lot of sheeting and people at work. It didn't bother us too much as we mainly spent the day out and about, however if you were in the hotel for longer it might be an issue - we were also not informed of this in advance which would have gone a long way - Hotel pool is quite small, with the pictures online making it look larger - Restaurant offered limited menu items at a high price. We ate there once and did not return - it didn't look very busy throughout the stay

I chose to stay at Sofitel because it was the closest hotel to Cedars Sinai, where I was supporting close friends at a critical time. It would have been enough to simply have a comfortable, calm place to rest each night. But my experience was so much more than that. Time after time, the people working at Sofitel went well beyond rote courtesy. They were authentic, kind, and genuinely cared about helping me out during a stressful time. My first such experience was with Marta at the hotel restaurant, where I went to have a quick breakfast before my first morning at Cedars. I was in a bit of a hurry, and while I wasn't expecting special treatment, Marta was attuned to my situation, and personally made sure I'd be taken care of quickly. I interacted with Marta on several subsequent days, and by the time I left town, she felt like family to me. The next humane and compassionate interaction happened with George at the front desk. I didn't know how long I'd be staying in town, and had only booked two nights initially. As my friend's stay at Cedars continued, I was hoping to be able to stay at Sofitel longer. They were fully booked for the upcoming nights, but made it a point to keep me in mind if and when any rooms opened up, or there were any cancellations. I lucked out! Furthermore, George was able to keep me in the room I was already in. And, he was also able to give me the additional nights at the special rate for people visiting loved ones at Cedars. This scenario played out again a couple nights later, and this time it was Alex at the front desk who helped me. I'm not writing about these interactions simply because I lucked into being able to extend my stay. I'm writing because people like George and Alex were warm, kind and purposefully helpful. They weren't merely doing their jobs well. They were genuinely kind, attuned humans. Like Marta, they not only provided space, they held space. I had really positive interactions with others on the wait staff at the restaurant, as well as at the front desk. But Marta, George and Alex left an indelible impression. On my last night there, I had time to go have a drink before going to bed. I went down to the bar, but unfortunately they were already closing. The bartenders could have just told me that, and of course that would have been fine. But they made a point, instead, to tell me about the Roger Room down the street, a really cool spot with a speakeasy vibe. Prior to this visit to L.A., I had never before stayed at a Sofitel. After having done so, I will be looking for Sofitels as an option wherever I travel. Few qualities can really distinguish a brand from all others. Marta, George and Alex made sure through their authentic human touch that Sofitel raises the bar on what a hotel experience can be, especially in a time of need.

We felt heartily welcome right from the first step in. Jorge was amazing, he helped us with all our questions, arranged taxis and took care that everything worked out. Our room was large, comfortable and quiet. We really enjoyed our stay at the Sofitel.

NOT SOFITEL STANDARDS!!! Due to renovation works (which we were not informed of) this was not a safe place to stay!! Dust everywhere! So much noise! We were very disappointed with this. If I had read the reviews prior, we would have gone elsewhere! POSITIVES Rooms are spacious Marta in the breakfast area was sensational!!! made us feel very welcomed - 5 star service (along with her staff there ) The driveway and porter staff were very nice NEGATIVES ( apart from dust/ noise, etc ) Breakfast - we only found out that we had a certain price allocation for breakfast !!! Why do this ? It's order off the menu- to avoid being charged more ( plus taxes, we had to cost out what we ordered- REDICULOUS!!!. All hotels we have stayed at have an all-inclusive breakfast, and a buffet one at that The restaurant area was closed to guests due to a private function. Why is a function more important than hotel guests ?? For a very expensive rate- overall we were very disappointed We have stayed at many Sofitel Hotels around the world - and this is way off the mark, unfortunately
