A timeless gem on the Basque coast. Our multi-generational family group (16 of us!) had one of the best trips ever at Sofitel Le Miramar. The views, the spa, the exceptional service—it all came together beautifully. Yes, you’ll see touches of age, but that’s the charm. This is not a sterile chain hotel; it’s a place full of heritage and warmth. Special thanks to the concierge and front desk team—outstanding hospitality. Highly recommend.

This was my second trip this year to Sofitel Biarritz. I was there in February and had such a wonderful time. I returned in April 2025 and confirm that this is certainly one of the best Sofitel around the world. I have been writing reviews on tripadvisor since 2008. I wrote over 300+ reviews and got 300 000+ views. I have stayed at Mandarin Oriental, Four Seasons, Park Hyatt and all sorts of luxury properties around the world. And I stayed in some terrible Sofitel hotels as well, I have to be honest (Lisbonne was probably my worst experience - I do reviews on bad Sofitels too) so I tend to be honest when it comes to Accor's Sofitels, especially as I am not at all a huge fan of their All loyalty program. But, Sofitel Biarritz deserves every praise I can make. First of all, the location is prime and it is hard to find an equivalent spot in Biarritz (lots of people here mention the hotel next door but it is a factory compared to the Sofitel's boutique feel). Second, the staff is OUT OF THIS WOLRD. People at this hotel are kind, welcoming, attentive, efficient, courteous, discreet and engaging. This goes from the doorman, to the concierge, to the SO efficient check-in desk, to the bar, to the restaurant, to the cleaners in the room, to the therapists at the thalasso center. The staff makes it a point to treat customers in the most lovely fashion. Third, the treatments are the BEST of the Accor's thalasso brand. I tried EACH and EVRY thalasso hotel from Accor. Nothing comes even close to Sofitel Biarritz (and I gave some pretty negative reviews to some of their other brands, like Novotel Le Touquet). Biarritz beats them all. Period. You will not find a better Accor thalasso facility (Sofitel Quibron is my next favorite Accor thalasso hotel but Sofitel Biarritz does a much superior job). Fourth, the food is excellent at the restaurant when you take the half board like I did. The chef is phenomenal and the ingredients are fresh and tasty. The personnel is so attentive. The breakfast is one of my favorite breakfasts to be available at a hotel around the world (please look at my profile and see how many luxury hotels I visited in the world). Fifth, although I am not at all fan of the Accor loyalty program (one of the worst in my experience, I have to be honest), this is THE hotel where my loyalty is seen, valued, praised and rewarded. I feel special being a Platinum member at Sofitel Biarritz. Both in February and April, I got upgraded from a luxury partial ocean-view to the BEST two ocean-front rooms in the hotel. That's what I call great customer's loyalty recognition. I always get a very nice gift in my room and a kind note, as well. Sixth, the rooms are superb. They truly are. Amazing balcony facing the Ocean. Amazing bed. Very comfortable bathroom. Nice products in the shower/bath. Good A/C. If you choose Sofitel Biarritz for your stay, you are in for a treat. I simply cannot wait to go back and will try to do so before the end 2025. THANK YOU to all the staff at Sofitel Biarritz! PS: I do not have any commercial affiliation with Sofitel Biarritz and was NEVER asked to post a review on tripadvisor from them. Never.

The worst place, it is so tired and outdated seems like stuck in the 70's dirty, not maintained, worn dirty carpets, dirty dusty rooms, paint peeling off. coffee machine are dirty and broken. staff speaks no English, takes ages to explain what you need as stuff literally speaks no English at all. very sad place. the worst spa I have ever visited, tired looking place quite dirty. staff speaks no English. the food is pretty bad ghastly place overall. never visit again.

The worst Sofitel hotel I have ever stayed - poorly maintained, musty and dated room, too expensive for poor service and facilities. Needs total refurbishment.

It’s a modern building in a great position with amazing views. The problem is that time has taken its toll on the fabric of the building both inside and out. I appreciate that being constantly attacked by seaside weather can be brutal, but it appears that the Sofitel group have let the place decline. Inside and outside the paint work is peeling, the metal work rusty and the internal carpets are threadbare in places. The staff were warm and welcoming and should be commended. It’s a shame as otherwise there’s a lot to recommend this place.
