Wonderful Experience at One and Only Moonlight Basin

Staff were excellent. Love the venue and all the views of Big Sky. Great skiing experience. Staff went above and beyond to support our family.

Secluded and Beautiful

The resort in the landscape itself is absolutely stunning, but a bit inconvenient about having to take a car anywhere you want to go whether it’s to the lobby to the spa or to a restaurant on property or to a bar on property. Since it is new, they are definitely working out the kinks and often ran out of bottled water at every meal.

Amazing new property from a phenomenal brand

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 weeks ago

I had the pleasure of staying at the One&Only Moonlight Basin during their opening weekend, after booking rooms for myself and my husband as well as some of our friends and clients (I also moonlight as a travel advisor) under the First Reveal promotion. We have visited several One&Only properties around the world and love the brand - from the hallmark hand-on-heart hospitality, to the beautiful design, sense of place, and thoughtful finishes - a stay at O&O is always memorable in the best possible way. Their first U.S. property absolutely lived up to those expectations. Our room was gorgeous, spacious and intentional in every detail. It was also large enough to have our friends join us for a nightcap or to review plans for the day. The hotel itself is equally stunning, with ample space for every guest to find their own corner to curl up with a book and a blanket or a delicious drink near the fire. Everything we ate was phenomenal, with the standout being our meal at Akira Black. Chef even stopped by our table to chat and enjoy a cheers as we moved between courses. We brought some wine from our own cellar to enjoy as a celebration, but we needn't have bothered as the wine list on site was extensive and exceptional. Our favorite part of the entire property was the Moon Shack (aka the Whiskey Shack) in the woods, where we invariably finished every night. The pictures, charming as they are, don't do the little bar justice. Located out in the woods and only accessible via (heated, luxury) ATVs, the most incredible thing about the Shack is the smell: of the old wood cabin that was shipped in from Idaho alongside the scent of rosemary being torched for a craft cocktail. They should really make a candle. The bar manager Erica, and every bartender we met made us feel welcome, kept the amazing drinks flowing, and shared some of the local lore (Boots the Fox even made an appearance!). The entire staff went out of their way to make sure we had an amazing stay and we can't recommend the hotel, restaurant and bars enough. Can't wait to go back!

Fantastic.

Our last stay at a One&Only property was more than 10 years ago and was outstanding in every way, so we looked forward to our stay at Moonlight Basin. We came in with high expectations and were not disappointed. The thoughtfulness of the staff is incredible; we were blown away by the touches they added to make our stay memorable. Our hosts were gracious and accommodating, and all the dining experiences were excellent. The property itself is stunning in every way. We had a fantastic stay and can’t wait to return.

Beware: you will be charged a premium for an unfinished experience

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

I feel like a schmuck. Outrageously overpriced and underbaked compared to the other O&O locations. There was general confusion and chaos amongst the staff, and the (beautifully finished, as always) spaces are cramped and difficult to navigate. I constantly felt like I was in the way of staff or guests in the common spaces. Dogs and kids running the hallways at all hours at a $1,000+ room rate. No milk options for coffee at breakfast. The systems were down several days and so doing basic things like eating the one meal that won’t cost you extra each day became a chore. Some of our room amenities had been used by prior guests— there were hairs were in the sleeping masks. The food is extremely limited and overpriced. I feel like we paid a hefty premium for a stay that was a burden rather than a vacation. This location has no business being open yet and I feel scammed.
