1.front desk don't help with dinner reservation and reroute us to call restaurant where no one is there answering the phone 2. basic amenities like bottled water were not proactively provided in the room. We only received water after specifically asking for it 3.as a Globalist member, I did not feel that any meaningful recognition or benefits were extended during the stay. Combined with the issues above, the overall experience was not as expected

I did not use points to stay here. I stayed in the coast house suite, with the living room attachment to make it a one bedroom suite. I have never stayed at either here or post ranch inn and decided to try this place first because family friends have loved this property over the years. Mistake The woman at the spa who did my astrology did a completely wrong reading. I could tell when she realized she had made a mistake. I still let her continue the full reading and paid the full price she charged. I wanted to see how deep she would go into her lie, she talked to me about my fake astrology for an hour and took my tip and my money for the spa appointment with no hesitation. Did I mention she is the spa manager? So a hotel that tries to be a wellness type/spa type has a bunch of people to take advantage of you at the quickest chance, FYI. I left a pair of shorts there. Prada shorts. $1,400 mohair tuxedo shorts. I know I should not care more than any other pair of shorts if they went missing or not, and I can’t confirm who took them. I honestly would want them if I saw them too, that’s why I paid $1,400 for them in the first place. When I called they had no record of them, it was a week later though (I had a trip where I kept the same suitcase and didn’t even think to look because I didn’t unpack fully). It just leaves a bad taste in your mouth you know? Weird time at the Japanese hot tub too. It felt like some man was trying to record me on his phone. It’s a clothing optional pool, phones should not be allowed, I was clothed but others might not be clothed. My husband, who I didn’t say word to at the time, also noticed and stood between me and the man. Def weird, did not want to go back there. The rooms are cute, but definitely feel like an upscale Marriott. The hot tub was lovely, the view was lovely. Overall Big Sur is magical. The turndown gifts are fun, aman does that too. Here they give sage as one of the nighttime gifts, I think sage is a closed practice? Do better, not cool. This place has so much potential. So much. Do better

Alila Ventana surpassed our expectations. The landscape, the staff, the views and food….it was all amazing! Alila did a great job with small touches: unique turn down services, a record player with a records library, day packs and coolers provided, water bottles with convenient water refill stations. We had a wonderful time and hope to go back again!

Fabulous fabulous fabulous! First time staying at this place and everything was incredible. The property is immaculate and it is really quiet and serene. The views are phenomenal. Staff is absolutely the best (reception, restaurant, cart drivers, on-property maintenance, gardener, activities). We did a lot of the included activities and they are not just "namesake fillers". Every activity was very fun, engaging and we got to learn a lot. Especially loved the Foraging walk! We are both vegans and there was a decent number of options for vegans at brunch. It was all so delicious. They also have soy milk lattes which were amazing. Dinner entrees could be better for vegans though. The rooms were clean and really functional. The pool was at the perfect temperature. We didn't use the gym but it looked quite small. One thing to note is that if you have serious pets allergy, this might not be great for you. They didn't have any "pets not allowed" rooms and there is a cat at the reception.

Our experience here was amazing. It was truly a retreat and a fantastic way to celebrate our 10 yr anniversary. The food was so good - lots of flavor, cooked to perfection and presentation was really good. Service was top class and I would recommend this place to anyone! It was a phenomenal trip for my wife and I. It exceeded our expectations!
