I came to Conrad Bora Bora to celebrate my birthday, and it was a dream. From the airport, Adrian welcomed us and gave a tour around the whole property, showing us all the highlights. He was so professional, caring, and made sure we felt comfortable from the beginning to the end. As a Diamond member, I was upgraded to a beach villa with lagoon access and a beautiful view, and the hotel surprised me with a cake and champagne that made my birthday unforgettable. The breakfast buffet was delicious, and all the staff greeted us with smiles and called us by name. A big thank you to Poema and Timia for their kindness. We ate at all the restaurants such as French Iriatai, Upa Upa, Banyan, and Beach Grill so every dish was made with love, and the service was amazing. Compliments to the chefs! We also enjoyed the Polynesian show, the entertainment was excellent, and the buffet was great. At Nina Spa, I had two massages and a facial with Deli who did a fantastic job, while my husband had Anna Sophie and was just as impressed. Gaelle gave us a warm welcome, and the spa itself is beautiful, right on the hill with an incredible lagoon view. Also, housekeeping was top-notch, coming twice a day. On our last day, Bella decorated our villa with flowers, and a nice decoration with towels creating such unforgettable memories. Thank you also to the whole housekeeping team for keeping everything perfect. This stay gave me the best birthday celebration in my life with wonderful service, amazing food, relaxing spa, and so many memories. Thank you Adrian, the property management, and all the staff who made our stay so special. I can’t wait to come back!Thank you!!!!

Conrad Bora Bora was a solid 3.5 out of 5. Here are the pros: the pastries at the breakfast buffet was a stand out as well as offerings. The over the water bungalows were beautiful and the swim out was exceptional. There is a lot of privacy in each of the bungalows and each unit was designed beautifully. The fitness center had everything you needed. The bicycles were a nice touch to getting around the island. The outside buffet with fire dancers were a highlight. They had amazing seafood, so fresh and great entertainment. Cons: For such an expensive and luxurious place there is ZERO free drinking water with the exception of water at the fitness center. If you are traveling here make sure to bring your insulated water bottles. They don’t even give you water in the bungalows. The service of the French is absolutely atrocious, little left to be desired and always felt like we were a bother. The food: very small portions and with everything in Bora it costs $50 per burger (plain) and $35+ for drinks. The French staff were unfriendly and pretentious (especially for not wearing any deodorant you’d think they would be nicer, reeked of body odor during our room tour and buggy transportations). On the other hand Tahitian staff always wore a smile on their face and quite welcoming. Wouldn’t return to this resort and pay what we paid due to the ungodly poor service. The service is 2 out of 5. Stay elsewhere.

I have stayed at the Conrad Bora Bora Nui several times over the years, and on my most recent week-long visit I knew I would be arriving during an active renovation period. I came prepared for potential disruptions, but what I found instead was a resort in transition—one that is making real progress in upgrading its rooms, dining, and amenities. The improvements far outweighed the modest inconveniences of construction. Because many recent reviews have raised concerns about the renovations, let me address this first. As of mid-August, work is ongoing, but it is largely confined to the far ends of the property. Management has clearly made an effort to minimize guest impact: about 90% of the resort operates without any meaningful disruption. Renovation areas are carefully cordoned off, and the main spaces—restaurants, bars, pool, and the vast majority of accommodations—remain completely unaffected. Yes, if you walk every pathway, you will see crews and equipment. But if you remain in the primary guest areas, you are unlikely to experience noise or visual disturbance. It’s worth noting that the tennis court is currently closed, and some of the work is carried out via barges to further reduce the presence of construction staff on the grounds. Now, the good news: the results of the renovations are already impressive. I stayed in one of the newly renovated overwater bungalows, which have been redone from the studs up. The layout is familiar, but nearly every element feels refreshed. The outdoor deck is stunning, with new hardwood that looks like ipe, an elegant new shower, improved furnishings designed for comfort in any weather, and even a comfortable over-the-water netting area large enough for three adults. There are also practical touches such as outdoor USB and USB-C outlets. Inside, the upgrades are equally thoughtful. Lighting, air conditioning, and fans are now controlled via intuitive touch-screen technology that works seamlessly across languages. The air conditioning is whisper-quiet, the ceiling fan perfectly balanced, and the new hardwood floors absolutely beautiful. Furnishings have been updated with contemporary pieces that blend well into the existing color palette—modern yet true to the resort’s style. Food and beverage have also continued to improve, with noticeable gains in quality, presentation, and menu variety—an especially welcome development given that this is the only property on its small island. Service, too, feels more polished and engaged, creating a consistently upscale experience. One of the highlights of this trip was the exceptional service from the staff. A small example: during a sudden rain shower, a team member appeared almost instantly with umbrellas and an offer of a ride. Another time, when a rash guard blew off our deck into the sea, the pool team coordinated a safe retrieval from beneath our bungalow within minutes. These are small gestures, but they illustrate the staff’s attentiveness and genuine care. Special recognition goes to Zsuzana, our concierge, who was attentive from the moment we arrived and checked in with us daily, ensuring every detail was handled seamlessly. The breakfast staff—Poema, Timia, Mateata, Tarita, Viahere, Graziella, Velma, Nicky, Maeva, Tehei, Matatini, Ravahere, and others—were gracious and thoughtful, remembering our preferences and always delivering with warmth. Ricky, one of the friendliest golf cart drivers we’ve ever met, deserves a thank-you as well. The spa is another standout. Its newly upgraded treatment rooms and outdoor facilities are among the most beautiful I’ve seen anywhere in the world, offering a truly serene and luxurious experience. What truly sets Conrad Bora Bora Nui apart, however, is not just its luxury but its sense of place. The staff embody Polynesian warmth, hospitality, and pride, and the property honors that culture through traditional shows, décor, language, and cuisine. This cultural authenticity adds immeasurable depth to the guest experience. Of course, all of this comes at a premium price. But in my view, the Conrad delivers on its promise of a once-in-a-lifetime experience—and it’s only getting better. With further renovations planned for central areas such as restaurants and reception, I believe the resort is on its way to becoming the standard-bearer for five-star luxury in Bora Bora. In short: yes, renovations are ongoing, but they are well-managed and far outweighed by the property’s beauty, improvements, and service. If you have concerns, I recommend contacting the hotel directly before your stay to confirm room location and expectations. For me, even in transition, this was paradise found.

Avoid This Hotel – Completely Misrepresented I am currently staying at the Conrad Hotel in Bora Bora (August 2025) and feel completely deceived. Nowhere online or during booking did it mention that the property is under major construction — yet half of the resort is closed and off-limits. Construction noise starts as early as 6:00 AM every morning, making it impossible to relax in what should be a paradise setting. The only bungalows available are old, worn out, and in desperate need of repairs and updating. My specific bungalow is facing a construction barge. They are far from the “luxury” the hotel advertises. Because half the resort is shut down, staffing has also been cut back drastically — there are almost no activities, and half of the restaurants are closed. Last night we were even turned away from the only restaurant that was open because they were understaffed, leaving us with no food options on a secluded private island! We raised all of these concerns with management and were met with indifference. There was no apology, no effort to make things right, and no acknowledgment that the hotel is misleading guests by failing to disclose the ongoing construction. For the extremely high prices being charged here, the value is absolutely nonexistent. This hotel is being misrepresented online, and guests are not told the truth before booking. Between the construction noise, closed facilities, outdated rooms, lack of staff, and poor management response, this has been one of the worst travel experiences we’ve ever had. Do not book this hotel. Choose literally anywhere else in Bora Bora.
