Reviews for InterContinental Bordeaux - Le Grand Hotel, an IHG Hotel

IHG member

As an IHG member, from another hotel somewhere and sometime, I was a bit surprised by some of our experiences at the hotel. It’s a lovely building with a beautiful location and very nice rooms (based on the one we had). Our problems started when we arrived from our river cruise before 10am and were told, not surprisingly, our room wasn’t ready. What we were told was that it would be ready by 3pm and they would ring if it was ready beforehand. Our luggage was kept aside in the foyer area. We were back in the area around 1pm and popped into the hotel to see if the room was ready. It wasn’t as housekeeping hadn’t attended to it at that stage, 3 hours after we had arrived. At 2.15 am we were very weary and popped back to check on the room situation. Housekeeping still hadn’t got there so we popped out for a short stroll to cool down. Our luggage was still sitting in the foyer. At 2.45pm we popped back and asked again. Room still not ready so reception rang housekeeping who said 15minutes at the latest (i.e 3pm). We sat in a very small waiting area where there was a fresh drink container. I tried for a drink but it was empty. At 3.10pm I asked again about our room - 10 minutes after the absolute maximum time it would be ready. Not ready but would ring housekeeping! A few minutes later we got our keycards. Almost 5.5hours after we arrived. I’m glad I’m an IHG member! So, we went to our room and waited 15 minutes for our luggage. Nothing so my wife went down to get our carry-on bags and caused chaos because that was the job of staff to deliver bags. I suspect we would still be waiting for them a day later if she hadn’t gone down. But that’s not all. The guy who brought the bags noticed we needed a second suitcase stand and said, I believe, he would ask housekeeping to deliver one. Thirty hours later and were still waiting. Breakfast in the brasserie was nice but for some reason the young staff members on duty didn’t seem to see our used dishes and fruit juice glasses so they piled up on our table. Collected just as we were about to leave. We had just arrived from a river cruise where staff service was impeccable. Much different from our experience in the Intercontinental. An exception was a bald headed guy serving in the bar. He was very friendly and, even better, helpful. And proactive.

Fantastic stay

We had a fantastic stay at InterContinental Madrid. Everything about our visit was excellent. The food was truly exceptional – delicious, beautifully presented, and full of flavor. It was one of the highlights of our stay. Our room had a balcony overlooking one of the main streets of Madrid, which gave us a wonderful view of the lively atmosphere of the city. The service was outstanding and the entire stay felt very comfortable and luxurious. It was a wonderful experience and we would definitely love to come back. Highly recommended

Beautiful comfortable hotel

I was fortunate to choose this hotel for my first stay in Bordeaux. From start to finish I could not have asked for a better experience. I was there for 4 nights travelling a a woman on my own. The staff were exceptional and the spa a beautiful space to relax. Sadly I did not eat in their restaurants but did visit the bar and was very well looked after. My room was spacious and immaculately cleaned every day. Special thanks to George the concierge and Romaine front of house who helped with tec assistance. I would recommend this hotel and look forward to returning .

Perfection

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 months ago

We checked in early this morning and feel compelled to write a review as we have received the very best service since the moment we walked into the lobby. We arrived on a super early flight and while our room was not ready (why would it be at 9.30am) we were recommended to go to the hotel restaurant for breakfast, which was superb. We were seated at the window overlooking the incredible opera house. We were warmly greeted at the spa and shown the gym. We are looking forward to using this amenity. Our room on the third floor is classic French perfection. Gorgeous colours, chic decor and well laid out with a separate small dressing room. Everything is super chic from the Byredo toiletries to the beautiful tapestry walls. We spent sunset at the rooftop bar, enjoying the views and champagne before heading to dinner. The Opera house is illuminated at night and is stunning. We cannot wait to see what other delights await in beautiful Bordeaux. A huge thank you to the Intercontinental staff for a wonderful first day.
