The Eliot Hotel

Fabulous!!! The location was ideal, the property was immaculate and charming, the room was beautiful in every detail, the staff was attentive but not intrusive. The General Manager clearly sets the bar high and delivers a great experience for the guests. Definitely a gem of a hotel and I look forward to returning.

Ok so we were renovating our condo one block away and needed to stay over the night before we moved back into our building. We had always wanted to stay at the Eliot, as reviews were great and we had eaten many times at Uni (fabulous, by the way). Unfortunately the experience here was dismal. Arrival and departure - Not greeted by doorman or had door opened for us and no offer to help with our luggage. Front desk - I had asked for an upgraded room, as it is part of one of the travel groups that I belong to. They upgraded us and we thought wonderful. Room - We had a lovely looking room at first glance, but then it set in what we really had. The room was warm and didn't seem like the AC was working. We called the front desk and they said someone would be right up. No one ever came. Finally we investigated the thermostat and realized it was not on. The room did eventually cool down, but no one ever came to check it out and when we told the front desk they did not even offer an apology. The bathroom was tiny with lack of storage and the toilet was the public type with a flusher that you use your foot on! This is supposed to be a luxurious hotel and I felt like I was in a bus station. The room faced a brick wall but below was a dumpster. All night long people were dumping trash into the dumpster and at 7am a loud truck came to empty the dumpster. Vile. Lastly, the pillows were not down, they were foam rubber and there was no duvet on the bed. These are usual amenities for this level hotel. We checked out at 8 am as we couldn't wait to leave. If you are looking for a high end luxurious hotel in Boston, do not stay here. Stay at the Four Seasons or Raffles.

Our stay at the Eliot Hotel was AMAZING. We can’t wait to return. Hotel is beautiful and the entire staff is EXCELLENT

The Elliot is my favorite Boston hotel. They have it all, cheerful, helpful staff, lovely rooms and great location. The Elliot is the best!

What a disappointment. I checked in today, and the room is lovely and the location is great. But when I'd reserved I was told that though they didn't have a fitness center they had an arrangement with Boston Sports Club, eight minutes walk away at the Pru--which sounded okay. When I checked in the staff told me this was no longer the case and instead sent me to Planet Fitness (aka world's shabbiest gym) on Newbury St. And they advised me that they had no arrangement there, but instead I should take advantage of the gym's free one day pass for potential members. This really is not the kind of thing that should happen at a first-class hotel, and it is an embarrassing stain on an otherwise genteel institution
