The front desk staff are the kindest most efficient crew I’ve ever encountered. My daughter was traveling and had to have emergency surgery at Mass Gen. After a week in the hospital she had to recuperate in Boston for several days afterwards. The staff at The Liberty were absolutely unbelievable to us, and especially me. They were kind and caring and went out of their way to make me comfortable and feel supported. Their only concern was my daughter’s recovery. It is so refreshing to encounter people who care about others. I cannot say enough about the lovely staff and hotel. And the lobby was filled with activity and people and parties. It seemed like a very popular spot to be. I highly recommend.

This place was very dirty. There were bugs in the bed and when I went to the front desk they ignored me. Very rude staff and hotel management. Won’t be going again.

I've had the "opportunity" to stay at the Liberty over ten times since I began working in Boston, and it never fails to disappoint. Unfortunately, I travel a lot and as a Marriot Ambassador I have an opportunity to sample a LOT of Marriot hotels, specifically in the Boston area, and the Liberty is the WORST by far. Staff that treats you like an expectation, never helpful, and even requires getting down on hands and knees to beg for Marriot guarantees like a 4pm late check-out, this hotel is the worst. Avenue Row, Westin Copley place, appreciate my business, the Liberty, they care not a lick when I have to pay ~$700/night for a luxury hotel. The only upside, the food and beverage staff is top notch, but EVERYONE from the check-in to maintanence has an attitude, and they are the worst. My favorite story of the Liberty is how I wasn't upgraded, for like the 7th time, but I was put in a room with no TV or phone. Then, when I got back from work, two workman were coming out of my room, I was never contacted, and they had dust and work product all over my things. It was only THEN that management decided to upgrade me, as it was SOOOOO bad they were worried. Again, terrible management, don't give a rip about you as a customer, AND then cop an attitude. The Liberty used to be a prision, it feels like one now. WORST hotel experience in a decade.

Unless you want to have to verify your sex, I would not spend a dime here. Any money from the alphabet mafia should spend their money on places that promote love! There are far better hotels out there that will respect human beings.

The hotel is beautiful and located within walking distance of Beacon Hill. Main complaint was the noise factor. Our 4th floor room was located overlooking a courtyard loading zone/garbage zone, which was active on both Saturday morning at 7 am and Monday morning at 2:45 am. It sounded like a front end loader was dropping concrete blocks into a steel dumpster. For at least an hour. If it was a one-time thing, I get it. But for two weekend nights?! On Saturday night, a group of men stood outside our room drunk, yelling at each other about how drunk they were and who was going to puke. We got to experience their drunkenness for at least 30 minutes. I would expect this at a hotel near a college campus, but not a high end Marriott property. Upon checkout, the desk clerk did not bother asking how our stay was. We did get dessert at the restaurant, and the server who recommended the crème brulee knew his stuff and was very attentive. Would I stay there again? Only if I can be guaranteed my room was far away from dumpsters and drunks.
