World-class hospitality in the heart of Boston

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

My colleagues and I had the pleasure of staying at Mandarin Oriental, Boston twice this year (June and July) while hosting our FIFA World Cup client hospitality programmes. Our stay was wonderful from start to finish, and our guests were very pleased with their overall experience. The hotel is perfectly located in the heart of Back Bay, one of Boston’s most beautiful and walkable neighbourhoods, with fantastic restaurants, shopping and many of the city’s top attractions just moments away. Breakfast at Ramsay’s Kitchen, the hotel’s in-house restaurant, was an excellent start to each day, and I’ll have to return next time to experience the renowned spa. A huge thank you to Heather for helping arrange our group booking, Erika and Maho for their outstanding support throughout, Paul and Puika from Concierge Services Service, the Front Desk, Bell and In-Room Dining teams for their consistently excellent service. A special mention to Jason, the Hotel Manager, whose leadership is reflected in a team that genuinely cares. Mandarin Oriental, Boston truly sets the standard for warm, personal luxury hospitality. I can’t recommend it highly enough.

A Return Stay That Reaffirmed Why We Keep Choosing Mandarin Oriental Boston

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 6 days ago

This was my second stay at the Mandarin Oriental Boston, and it will not be my last. The hotel sits right on Boylston Street in Back Bay, just steps from the Prudential Center, which made it a perfect launch point before an early flight out of the city. Even during a chaotic traffic hour, the valet team had us out of the car and checked in within minutes, warm and unhurried despite the rush around us. Walking into the lobby is its own kind of arrival experience. It is designed around feng shui principles, with the front doors said to align with the Charles River, and the result is a genuine sense of calm the moment you step in off a busy Boston street. Local granite, curated artwork, and a long gas fireplace give the space a New England elegance layered with subtle Oriental touches, fresh flowers, soft music, all of it quietly composed rather than showy. It is the kind of lobby that makes you want to sit for a minute even when you are en route somewhere else. Check in was seamless and friendly, no wait at all. Our room carried the same understated luxury as the lobby: clean lines, spotless, and an incredibly comfortable bed. A chocolate treat was waiting for us on arrival, along with a handwritten note from the manager welcoming me back and thanking me for choosing to stay again. Small touch, but it landed. It is the kind of detail that makes a hotel feel like it remembers you rather than just processes you. We had dinner reservations at the hotel restaurant, but my husband had a work emergency come up at the last minute, so we pivoted to room service instead. The team delivered quickly and with the same warmth we experienced everywhere else in the hotel. The fried rice with tuna was outstanding, easily one of the better room service dishes we have had. We paired it with a bottle of Truchard Chardonnay and a glass of the Truchard Pinot Noir, both excellent, well suited to the meal. Checkout the next morning was just as smooth as everything before it. Between the location, the thoughtful design, the staff, and the small personal touches, this is exactly the kind of stay that keeps us coming back. Already looking forward to our next visit.

Amazing service!

The service at the Mandarin Oriental in Boston is amazing! Paul S., the concierge, went quite above and beyond to help me make my client's stay most comfortable. He was professional, understanding, efficient, and friendly. I am very grateful! Katie C. in reservations was also very helpful as we navigated last-minute changes. She was so accommodating. I will always recommend this hotel with great confidence. Thank you! Donna A. Bruno

Very average.

Stayed one night at this property. Have stayed here occasionally over the years. I found this stay didn’t measure up in many ways. Given the price of the room I had hoped a breakfast might come with the rate. It didn’t. Room service breakfast arrived cold and since I had to check out rather early I didn’t bother sending it back but the entire meal was cold. The room—room 717– was fine. Spacious but nothing special. I think the room (s) probably need an updating. The shower drain wasn’t working so a couple of inches of water sat there and didn’t drain well at all. Given the choices in Boston, I probably won’t return to this MO. I chose it this time because it was the only spot available due to World Cup fans all over the city. Also—the cost of parking there is beyond outrageous. I understand that valet parking comes with a cost but at this property it feels like a gouge.
