Reviews for Mandarin Oriental Boston

An excellent stay in an an excellent hotel

Very helpful Front Desk. Excellent Concierge. The food is uniformly extremely good both in the Gordon Ramsey restaurant and in room service. Quiet rooms. Very welcoming entry hall with seats and coffee. The best hotel in Boston and for many miles around

Outstanding hotel at a prime location in Boston

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

Everything since the welcoming and check in process (thanks Valeria!) to the attentions in room service, to the superb service at the bar and restaurant (Ramsey’s kitchen) exceeded our expectations. Prime location near Copley and Newbury St. . Highly recommended.

Fine, but not great: this may not be the Mandarin Oriental you're looking for...

So, Boston's Mandarin Oriental is the least "Mandarin Oriental" hotel I have ever been to. I have stayed at the Mandarin in London, Barcelona, Beijing, Tokyo, NYC, and the (magnificent) Lutetia in Paris, several of them more than once, and for multiple days, and in a few cases, weeks. This is my first time at the Boston MO, and if I had seen the spaces ahead of time I would not have stayed here. The Boston MO is very clean, and the service is good, but not great. The elevators are quite fast. Food is good, but nothing out of the ordinary. The front desk is friendly, but not particularly accommodating. There is a strangely low ceilinged, long corridor to the lobby bathroom, and the hotel "shop" is an odd assortment of items displayed on the wall and floor in an alcove next to the front desk. As always, staff at the back of the house (housekeeping and in room dining) works incredibly hard. All that said, if you are looking for a Mandarin Oriental, this is not the hotel you're looking for. The decor is drab, sad and beige, with none of the deep colors, fine fabrics, chic furniture or Hong Kong/Oriental design that I have come to expect at an MO property. For example, the carpets in the rooms are some sort of odd brown/beige tartan that I would never, in a million years, have expected. Oddly, the color theme seems to be beige and grey, with some brown leather chairs and a small dusky green velvet sofa thrown in the mix. The walls in my suite were mostly bare, and while there is the obligatory chinoiserie-esque wallpaper behind beds, it is remarkable in how dull it was. I can tell that some of the furniture is the same as other places - there is the standard Mandarin oblong brushed brass mirror with a tiny shelf at the entryway, and the Mandarin labelled toiletries in the bathroom. I’m not sure if this was another hotel before MO took it over, but it sure seems that way. I love the Mandarin Oriental, and will absolutely go back to the Mandarin in other cities. But, unless there are some updates, for the money, style, and location in Boston, I’d probably recommend the Four Seasons, just around the corner.

Excellent service and comfortable room

We had an amazing stay at the Mandarin Oriental Boston! Despite a last-minute flight cancellation, the hotel staff went beyond to accommodate us through Whatsapp. They helped reschedule our transportation and room reservation seamlessly. Our room was comfortable, and ready upon arrival, with a rollaway bed set up for our child. Housekeeping staffs were nice and made the room so tidy. They folded a bed for the Lobster plushy. So funny! My child loves it! It’s so nice for most Mandarin Oriental hotel to give child a plushy as souvenirs. The plushy is still on my child’s bed. The hotel's location is fantastic—many famous attractions nearby and shopping malls are within walking distance. Our package included breakfast. It was delicious with large portione, especially the pancakes! We appreciated the option to enjoy it in-room, making mornings easier for our family. We had dinner in Ramsay’s Kitchen. It impressed us so much that we went twice! The food was very tasty, and room service was also excellent after long days of exploring.

Fabulous stay for a work event

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

The rooms are absolutely gorgeous providing every amenity one could need. The Dyptique products in the bathroom!!!! DELIGHTFUL! I love that brand. Room service was quick and friendly! And the bed -- perfection. I was there for a work event, but would love to go back and really experience the spa and all the hotel has to offer. It's beautiful.
