The Newbury, Boston

It was our first stay at The Newbury but it will not be our last! We normally stay around the corner at another spectacular hotel but decided to try The Newbury as it would be closer to the shopping on Newbury. We were greeted by a wonderful staff and not only received early check in but an upgrade to one of the suites with a wood burning fireplace.The room was spacious and the entire hotel has really had a wonderful makeover compared to the previous hotel, The Taj. The restaurant, Contessa, is situated on the roof of the hotel and offers wonderful views of the skyline while also serving delicious food. The standouts were the grilled octopus, arugula salad, delicious pastas and both the branzino and filet mignon. We were fortunate enough to also have Sunday brunch at Contessa which also did not disappoint and allowed us to enjoy the Boston skyline during the day. We were also able to enjoy the butler service for the fireplace which was a first for us in Boston! Five stars!

This hotel has no dining opportunities for its guests unless they queue for hours, standing up, in a bar which is full of people hogging all of the seats for hours on 1 drink. It doesnt look after its own. We go to Boston quite a lot. Last time we will come here though.

We’ve had an amazing experience staying where. G (goysh) was our first experience and he was helpful and gave us opportunity to learn about the city the menu and what to order. Balina was our second experience at the bar and she was so kind of accommodating and we loved spending time with her. We spent most of our time with Tyler at the bar and he was fantastic! Made us great drinks, gave us awesome information for the city and just made us feel welcome and like family.. it was even two days after his birthday and he was gracious and welcoming while we celebrated him. Jealous to think this is a local bar for the Bostonians around here. What an amazing place to spend time.

This is a truly exceptional hotel! If you want to feel special and well looked after, book this hotel. From check-in to special treats for our anniversary left in our room, the entire staff was exceptional. Not to mention this hotel is absolutely gorgeous. I spent so much time looking at the window. They made it quite difficult to leave the room.
