Boston Family Holiday August 2025

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

We chose the Omni Parker House for our Summer holiday to Boston for 10 nights in August 2025 based on positive reviews and central location, plus it's undeniable history. We'd highly recommend it as it's a wonderful location right in Downtown and central to most of the main sights in Boston - everything was walkable. The hotel is steeped in history, character and beautiful decor. Our family room on the 5th floor with two queen beds was very clean and tidy having been recently refurbished, although was a little small - perhaps to be expected given that this is a city centre hotel. Other minor observations of the room was that there was no hooks to hang towels, therefore needed fresh towels every day. Also, the window needed some sort of net/translucent curtain as the offices opposite could see right in - therefore had to keep the main curtains closed with the lights on during the day if privacy was required. We'd like to mention a few hotel staff that made our holiday to Boston extra special. First is John Hines, the Guest Services Manager. We had one small issue that he went above and beyond to resolve to our satisfaction - thank you John. Noelle at the check in desk was so helpful in providing information regarding the city, where to go, what to do, subway transport etc and always with a friendly smile. Special mention to Irving who was also really helpful and my wife particularly enjoyed her chats with him in the lobby :-) All the ladies at the check in desk were genuinely interested in our time in Boston, which went a long way. The maid/cleaning service was excellent every day. There was a coffee maker in the room (which had pods replenished every day/on request) and a hydration station which had another coffee machine and ice maker - very useful. Our girls loved getting an iced coffee. We also requested a microwave in the room, which as a family, came in very handy. We treated ourselves to breakfast in the hotel, which was exceptional and they pointed out the table where JFK proposed to Jackie O, where there is a plaque mentioning this (loved the detail and history). Although we booked through a third party as a package, we'd recommend booking with the hotel directly. We certainly will do so when we stay again.

The pictures do not do this beautiful historic hotel justice. It’s gorgeous! It’s the cleanest place I’ve ever stayed. The staff are top notch and the food is unmatched.

Location with great history

Checkin was very smooth and we learned so much of the history of the hotel. Room was very clean and quiet. You can’t go wrong with the location. Steps from many of the sites as well as close to subway. Their renovation of the hotel was done very well. Loved the water and ice station on the floor. Friendly staff throughout. Some things to note is that you may have a view of another building or a roof like we did - a bit claustrophobic. Bathroom was very tight - toilet wedged between wall and sink.

Amazing meal, professional service and beautiful spaces!

The teens and I visited Parker’s Restaurant in the Omni Parker House in Boston for a lovely lunch. The decor is gorgeous and definitely a step above our usual eats in Boston. Service was attentive and professional without being hovering. When we told Alejandro we were hoping to try the Boston Cream pie and wanted to split a few of our meals, the restaurant plated our meals per our wishes. I don’t think I could have eaten an entire club sandwich as my half was plenty! It was so yummy! My son had the fish and chips and said it was the best he had enjoyed and he eats a lot of fish and chips. The cole slaw was just like my Nana’s, loads of mayo and crunchy and well seasoned. Our daughter tried the French onion soup and found it very good. Of course, we had to try the Boston Cream Pie and it did not disappoint either! The ganache is chocolatey without being too sweet and the almonds on the edge were inspired! For a restaurant in such a historic hotel, they could just rely on their reputation, but the staff at Parker’s are doing it all right! We will return
