Great service to celebrate my daughter's girls' weekend!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 7 hours ago

My daughter and two of her friends began a girls weekend with an overnight at the Ritz Carlton, Boston ( Avery Street). I had a last minute idea to send them a surprise room amenity to celebrate their get together. I requested a bottle of Prosecco and a Cheese & Charcuterie Board. I called to arrange this only hours before their check in even though there is a 24 hour advance plan in place. The staff could not have been more helpful and accommodating!. The amenities were waiting for the girls at check in. I could not be more grateful and appreciative of the staff and their accommodation. They truly provided 5 star service. The girls loved the amenities, I was so very pleased with the outcome!!!

Fantastic Location

Lovely location. The staff was exceptional and always willing to help. The concierge was very helpful in booking a private tour as well as a private day of sailing! Hotel is dated but rooms are large and comfortable.

Underwhelming Stay

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

I totally agree with other reviews. The Ritz Boston is subpar. The doormen, and concierge were the hi light of our stay. As a new Bonvoy Top Tier credit card holder [ This was the first Marriott property using it,] The Ritz was very underwhelming . Upon check in, I asked what my CC status offered? Receptionist said, nothing, just points. Well, ok. Upon check out, I was charged the valet fee. My room booking included valet. When I mentioned that, she said she took care of it. We headed to the airport, and when I was able to check my bill, she only removed one night.I then had to call them back to get the other night removed. Also, I was supposed to get a $100.00 credit for staying 2 nights at a Ritz property. I emailed them a screen shot, and........ nothing. Not even a response. So, My recommendation is to stay elsewhere!

Nice experience

So this is my first visit to this location having been to the original ritz Carlton in Boston many times over the years. I was pleasantly surprised. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Room was spacious and comfortable (but no mini bar!). Club lounge was nice but not spectacular. The residences get the views for the most part. Room service was solid. Super close to the T and an easy ride to Fenway park. I’ll stay here again.

Snarky and Poor Service - Proceed with Caution!!!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 weeks ago

My family and I stayed at the Boston Ritz in July as part of a family vacation. To say the least, we don't recommend this hotel at all. We tried to remedy all our issues in a timely manner by speaking to personnel, but had poor experiences all along the way. Upon check-in, we were convinced to add the VIP lounge access to our stay. This lounge is essentially their version of the Elite club lounge that is usually included as part of any other Marriott property stay for elite level Bonvoy members. After we settled into the room, my wife checked out the lounge to find that the food was a stale-looking tray of fettuccine alfredo...and not much else. We promptly called the front desk and had them remove the lounge from our stay that night. When we were leaving the hotel (via a ride share app) at the end of our stay, our driver parked in front of the adjacent Ritz "residence" lobby so we could load up and leave. She did this to avoid blocking the one lane road otherwise. The door man for the residences immediately began verbally assaulting our driver, who was a woman of European decent. I'm sure he wouldn't have done that to a man or a non-immigrant. I politely tried to reason with the man, who then turned his ire at me even though I told him I was checking out of the adjacent hotel. He didn't care - the pull off wasn't for hotel use. He continued mouthing at me and the driver until we left despite me remaining cool I immediately called and tried to speak to a manager, but had to leave a message for a call back, which never came. I had to call back myself when I finally spoke to someone who was on duty (not the manager). They gave me points on our account, but it was paltry compared to the experience we had at checkout for this incident and the one below. Immediately after this horrible loadout experience, we noticed that the lounge hadn't been removed ($300/night). So we called back while on the way to the airport and spoke to a person who said it'd be removed. However, there was never any credit applied, so I had to go to the trouble of disputing the charge through my credit card, which finally resolved the issue. Based on these combined experiences, I would not recommend the hotel. Despite being in a good location, the service doesn't live up to that of a Ritz, a Four Seasons, or any other high-end hotel chain.
