Incredible Hotel and Service

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 days ago

This hotel was amazing. The rooms, beds, amenties, service, etc all wonderful. Chad was our bell hop and he was incredibly helpful and attentive. Our room was very nice and the beds were so comfortable. I loved the amenties of the robes and slippers. The room service was on time and delicious. The library downstairs had complimentary coffee, water, and snacks at different times throughout the day, which was wonderful. We also went to the Street Bar every day, if not twice, some days. We just really enjoyed the laid-back and classy ambiance. Not jam-packed with kids or young kids but more of an older crowd. We had no problems with finding a spot to sit and grabbing cocktails and appetizers. We tried their deviled eggs and oysters, which were delicious. You really can't go wrong with any of the cocktails there. Our service was top-notch each time we went. G, Tyler, and there was another bartender from Bulgaria, and I didn't catch her name. They were all great and made great recommendations. The hotel also threw events for marathon weekend and they were super nice! We will be back next year!

A Journey Back to Timeless Hospitality

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 5 days ago

Staying at this hotel felt like stepping back almost a hundred years, in the best possible way. Everything was built with true quality — from the elegant design to the solid craftsmanship that you rarely see today. Traditions are carefully preserved, giving the whole experience a sense of quiet dignity. The staff were genuinely warm, attentive without being overbearing, and made me feel truly welcome. It’s rare to find a place that honors its history so well while still feeling so comfortable and alive. I would love to return.

Can't go wrong

The Newbury is a very nice hotel with a great location. The room is very comfortable. The Contessa restaurant is fabulous - great view and good food (if a bit expensive). The staff are very attentive and helpful. The meeting room space was very comfortable and the food served buffet style was very good.

Best Place to Stay in Boston!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

This is my favorite hotel in Boston and the location right on Boston Public Garden and Newbury Street is amazing! We love being able to go for morning walks in the Garden and to explore different neighborhoods from this location. More importantly though, the service is always warm and welcoming - everyone who works here is gracious and helpful. I love the bedding - there is nothing worse than going to an upscale hotel and being disappointed with the bedding. The bedding is luxurious here - the pillows are perfect and the linens are soft. When I get up to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night, I don’t love the automatic night light that goes on - but I guess it’s for safety reasons. You can book the excellent restaurant, Contessa - on the 17th floor, for a special occasion or in the morning, you can walk a couple of blocks to the Life Alive cafe for a decent green juice. Again, thank you to the wonderful staff for the excellence in hospitality!

Awful Customer Service - Stay Away!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

Good location but worst customer service experience ever. Condescending guest services team, they don’t even know how to respond to guest emails or engage with hotel guests. We first visited the property when they first opened their doors. We had a good experience- they were new and you could see they were doing their best. We visited again a few years later, specifically requesting early check-in. We arrived at the hotel around 12:30 pm, and while the front desk team acknowledged our request, they did nothing to expedite anything. We didn’t make much of it, even though it was a nuisance. We should have known better before we made the decision to book another stay. Our arrival time was 1:30 pm, I emailed Guest Services, the response was the most condescending response to a guest request one could ever get, effectively talking me down: “ Your arrival time is not too far from the check-in time, so lets give the FO team an opportunity to see this through for you, ok? When we arrived at 1:30 pm, we were told the room was being cleaned and it shouldn’t be long, no more than 30 minutes. Would I like to have some food at the restaurant in the meantime? And then an hour goes by and nothing. Meanwhile the server at the hotel’s restaurant is hinting me to pay and leave - how rude! I ask the front desk at 2:30 pm, and oh, the room is being cleaned and it will be ready in 30 minutes- at the regular check in time of 3 pm! If you cannot accommodate a request, stop giving false promises and condescending responses. If I had known you would not be able to check me in at 3 pm, I would have chosen to eat somewhere else, and NOT your hotel’s restaurant. Awful experience overall, awful customer experience. Stay away if you want to be treated with dignity! There are much better options at the same price point and below elsewhere.
