6 huge ugly umbrellas left on lawn during wedding!!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

Recently eloped here in December of 2025. Brides beware… My husband and I toured the hotel as it was being built soon after we booked the lawn for our ceremony last summer. During the tour, there were no umbrellas on the lawn and we expressed how excited we were to elope there because the hotel is pet friendly and provides a beautiful view of the flatirons. Everything seemed perfect until our actual wedding day. There were six ginormous umbrellas that ruined the view of the lawn that could not be removed. We were told during our tour that the lawn would look as it did when we were there viewing the space- with no umbrellas. During the tour, we were told by Colleen F. That they were removable for the ceremony and we would not have to worry about them. Flash forward about six months to our wedding day and the umbrellas were on the lawn, with no notice, and no way to be removed. When we spoke to Colleen hours before our ceremony, she was helpful but ultimately ineffective. The umbrellas remained on the lawn for our ceremony, limiting our space and requiring our photographers to stand in awkward positions in order to hide the umbrellas in the pictures. This put a huge and unnecessary stress on us for our big day and the venue was not delivered as promised. I was so sad to have to worry about avoiding the umbrellas on our big day. Additionally, we felt misled by the Limelight staff because we were shown the lawn in person with no umbrellas and sent pictures of the lawn before and after the tour with no umbrellas. The umbrellas were at least 8 ft tall and extremely difficult to avoid. Luckily, we did not have any guests to seat on the lawn since we booked the space for an elopement. I would not have booked the lawn for our ceremony if I knew the umbrellas were going to be there during our ceremony, obstructing the view of the lawn and our use of the space. Another issue with the umbrellas is that on the day of our ceremony, Colleen told us that the umbrellas were “too heavy” to remove but they had been removed previously for an event. It saddens and frustrates me that the staff did not take the time to ensure the space was umbrella free for our ceremony beforehand. I was not told they would be there and had to find out the day of our wedding. Additionally, in our emails with Colleen F. confirming our rental of the lawn space in months prior to the ceremony, Colleen assured me that we would have the lawn space blocked off from other hotel guests and the public during our ceremony. However, during the ceremony multiple people were able to stroll through the space as the ceremony was actively taking place. Colleen and another staff member were present during the ceremony but did not ask the people walking through to vacate the space or be mindful of the ceremony taking place. I remember being anxious and stressed moments before saying our vows because general hotel guests were roaming through the ceremony space as Colleen F. stood nearby on her phone, instead of reminding hotel guests the lawn was reserved for our ceremony that was actively in progress. Overall, our day was beautiful because we got married! But our expectations of the hotel and use of the lawn for our ceremony left much to be desired as what actually happened did not align with our expectations. I would caution brides against booking here unless the team makes it 100% certain that the lawn umbrellas are removed long before your wedding day. The hotel’s response to this issue on our wedding day was extremely undesirable. The staff offered to move patio furniture on the balcony to the side so we could use the space for a first look. While the space was okay, it was not what we booked or expected. The lack of care from the Limelight staff was appalling. As the bride, after months of emailing back and forth with the Limelight staff to plan the event, I was running around stressed hours before the ceremony speaking with team members trying to resolve the umbrella issue when I should’ve been in the moment enjoying the day!

great location, views, and gym

Stayed for 2 nights with my wife and really enjoyed our stay! The location was amazing, being super walkable to so much of Boulder and they have a service to help drive you into town or over to Chataqua. The gym is one of the best I've seen in any hotel with a smith machine, squat rack, and free weights! The pool was amazing too with views of the Flatirons. Would definitely stay again!

The best hotel for CU football weekends

The Limelight Boulder was an overall amazing experience! We had a gorgeous Mountain View from our room, incredible service, impeccable amenities, and such a fun time at the Limelight tailgate before the CU Boulder football game.

A good option

Brand new great hotel from the aspen companies new brand. Nice rooms, good vibe etc. though it’s a bit off from expectations. Outdoor bar area was a bit of mess in the morning. Also, no good coffee options in the building. As an east coaster I am used to western time zone hotels having coffee available early. I asked the front desk and they said to make it in the room, wait for the restaurant to open, or drive to Starbucks. Coffee at a luxury is a standard option they have at the Denver location and not sure why not here.

The Limelight is a shining star in Boulder. The property is beautiful, the location cannot be beat, and the staff is exemplary. The rooms are large and comfortable, and the property is welcoming. I want to be sure to compliment the staff at the Limelight again - everyone was friendly, authentic, and professional.
