Excellent rooms, very well appointed. Rooms with a view onto the Danube are highly recommended. Very good breakfast, nice outdoor area for dinner

It may have been Grand in years past but not anymore. The rooms are a bit beat up, carpets stained. They sell access to the "grand living room" online but fail to tell you it has limited hours. Unlike most 5 star hotel lounges, this one only really carries a few snacks and coffee. Unsuitable for vegetarians or anyone with food preferences. The hotel is about a mile from the center of old town. It is a lovely walk along the Danube but if you are here for a short stay, hotels in the city center. By the way breakfast here is only buffet.. There is a great place next door, Olive tree that has great a la carte breakfast.

In 2016, I wrote a review of this hotel which you can read (see the review by MDDAD which was my old account). Unfortunately, this is not the same hotel that I loved on prior visits. The hotel is now showing its age, and neither the safe nor the air conditioning worked in our room this trip. They sold the room as "Castle view", but neither the castle nor the river could be seen. Customer service was impeccable years ago, and now they try to scam you. WARNING - do not buy the executive lounge (i.e. Living Room). I bought it and even said to the front desk person checking me in that I would turn down the breakfast since I would use the lounge for breakfast only to find out it is not open until 11am even to get coffee. There are no coffee pots in the rooms, and this is one of the reasons I purchased the lounge access. The snacks in the lounge are minimal now, and the quality is much worse than years ago with no hot food. The Turkish tea pot was left empty all day, and the lounge was so noisy that it was not an enjoyable experience. I stay in hotel rooms almost 100 nights per year, and this was the worst lounge I have experienced anywhere in the world. It is a shame. I loved this hotel years ago, and I came back because of my prior experience. There are more options now than there were years ago, and I am sure some still have the focus on the customer.

A good place to stay, but with two considerations. There is a neighbor building that encroaches diagonally into the hotel's space, blocking some of the river view. (Cool building though.) Location is great for a river walk, but the distance to the UFO Bridge and Old Town is rather far for older folks like us. Our Suite was very comfortable and nicely furnished. Staff are friendly and helpful. Overall a great stay.
