About the Hotel

FORESTIS is located in a densely wooded area, 1,800 m above sea-level, with a view of the Dolomites. The area’s unique and outstanding natural character had already prompted the Austrian monarchy to establish a tuberculosis sanatorium at precisely this special site. FORESTIS lies in a sheltered sunny location on the southern slope of the Plose mountain in the South Tyrolean Alps, directly opposite the impressive massifs of the Dolomites UNESCO World Heritage Site. The extraordinarily pure Plose spring water, fresh mountain air, many sunny days and mild climate, where Adriatic currents meet air masses from the North, have a favourable effect upon the health and well-being.

Bucketlist experience for a reason

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

Unreal experience. This is one of those bucketlist hotel experiences for a reason. We booked the suite with the view and outdoor balcony. We enjoyed the staff, the food, and the pool. We enjoyed the various saunas, cold plunges, and hiking trails. An incredible experience.

Absolutely fabulous understated luxury and superb service. Food, rooms, service, spa and access to sport all 5*

This is an absolutely fabulous facility that I discovered by accident, but must be among the best experiences in Europe for understated luxury, excellent food, fabulous service, a great balance between relaxation and access to sports activities, views of the most beautiful mountains in Europe and a very elegant clientele that is focused on both sports and superb food and spa facilities. Much of the credit goes to the staff which is incredibly helpful and competent.

Spectacular

Loved my stay here. Absolutely spectacular views with totally pristine mountains as far as the eye can see, and the hotel itself is beautifully done with a design that's both minimalist and rustic at the same time. I stayed in one of the Tower Suites (332) and it was well worth it for the incredible view, although on a return stay I might try and ask for a higher floor. Bear in mind the rooftop pools you see in some photos are only available in the penthouse rooms, which are far more expensive. Forestis is perfect for a 2-3 night stay to relax and unplug for a while. The location is very remote, which is really part of the appeal, and there's not much to do but enjoy the spa and go for walks (you can ski, but I think for skiing there are better options to be had). The staff said summer is their peak season, and I'd love to come back for it some time, but it's hard to imagine the surroundings being much more beautiful than they were during winter - it was stunning and the hotel felt very cosy to lounge around. The food was overall excellent, especially the lasagna in the Garden Restaurant and the breakfasts which offered lots of choice - except the pizza which was surprisingly disappointing. The staff were all lovely and very accommodating. Paula at the front desk was especially nice. My small criticisms are the curtains don't do a very good job of blocking out the sun in the morning (which they should really fix) and I was really surprised that in a remote / chill hotel like this they don't have any games lying around at all, not even a chess set, which is a shame. That said, I definitely plan to return.

Simply Amazing

The 25-minute drive up to the hotel was a stunning sightseeing experience in itself. The buildings blend beautifully with the surrounding pine forest, creating a truly scenic and harmonious setting. The staff could not have been more helpful or attentive throughout our stay. Our suite offered breathtaking views that made it tempting to skip activities altogether and simply relax. The hotel also seamlessly organised a day trip to the historic city below—everything ran perfectly without a hitch. We loved it so much that on our last morning, we grabbed coffee, cozied up, and gleefully scrolled through the one-star reviews—cackling uncontrollably and judging the absolute gremlins who wrote them. An outstanding experience from start to finish.

Best Wellness Retreat in the Dolomites

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

FORESTIS is one of those rare places where everything feels intentional, serene, and quietly extraordinary. From the moment you arrive, the silence of the mountains wraps around you—an almost meditative stillness that sets the tone for the entire stay. Every detail is rooted in nature and luxury in equal measure. The wellness offerings are exceptional. Cold plunges tucked into the forest feel like stepping into another world, and the saunas—suspended in glass and wood—make you feel fully immersed in the Dolomites themselves. The spa, treatments, and daily rituals are beautifully executed, creating a sense of deep restoration. Suites are minimalist perfection, with sweeping views that make it hard to leave your room. Service is warm yet unobtrusive, and the food is thoughtful, local, and truly memorable. If you’re seeking a place where wellbeing, beauty, and calm are woven into every corner, FORESTIS is incomparable. A stay here isn’t just a getaway.....it’s a reset.
