New Yorkers flock to the Hamptons, 100 miles east of Manhattan, to stroll by the shore, score antiques and soak up the cosmopolitan small-town atmosphere. The most distinguished among them settle at Topping Rose House in Bridgehampton, the area’s first full-service luxury hotel. Guestrooms occupy floors of a history-rich house – it belonged to community stalwart Judge Abraham Topping Rose at the turn of the 20th century – or in newly constructed cottages on the property. Spa services are available, and an eclectic collection of art comes courtesy of New York’s Winston Wächter Fine Art.

An absolute joke! No service or welcome vibe. Rooms and common areas old and tired, dirty! Shocked anyone would consider this hole luxury!

We decided to book a night at TRH for 4th of July. Our plan was to spend the holiday at the hotel facilities especially the pool. We choose TRH because we had a great time on our previous stay. As you can imagine there are many other hotels we could have chosen. Coming from Manhattan we rented a car especially for this trip. When we checked in the hotel we were informed the pool will be closed because of a private event at the hotel on both July 3rd and 4th. We made the booking via Hilton honors that did not provide information the pool will be closed. Nor did the TRH website provide information about this. Furthermore we received a confirmation email from TRH that did not mention the pool closure. I called the hotel after making the reservation to request a crib in our room and again no mention of the pool being closed. This absolutely ruined our short vacation wasting our time and money. We checked out early July 4th and went home instead of enjoying a day at the pool as planned.

Love this property but problems with the ac and the suana were disappointing. The food is top notch!

Glad you asked…all aspects of our stay at topping rose were excellent with the exception of my interactions with the manager, Brandon. There were disruptive dogs staying in an adjacent room and were barking nonstop when their owners were not present in the room. This went on from 10pm until I was able to fall asleep on Saturday night, then from early morning Sunday until about noon when the owners finally returned, it was like we were staying in a kennel. I immediately messaged the staff on Sunday morning to alert them to this…nothing was done to reassure me that this was addressed or that the situation was being effectively managed. After 3 hours, I went to the desk and spoke directly with Brandon who was seemingly aggravated and annoyed that I was making a big deal about this. My take away was that Brandon is a weak link in your mgmt staff and was simply not effective in managing the situation…which resulted in my frustration. I am happy you share my feedback-it just sucked to pay top dollar-and have this experience. All be needed to do was aknowledge the sitch.

I am a wedding planner visiting from the city for business and truly enjoyed my stay at Topping Rose! It is centrally located, the rooms are beautiful, staff friendly, and the restaurant is obviously divine. The weather wasn't great this week so I didn't spend much time around the pool or lawn area but they have a gorgeous pool and fire pits outdoors when the time is right. Thanks for a great stay!!
