About the Hotel

New Yorkers flock to the Hamptons, 100 miles east of Manhattan, to stroll by the shore, score antiques and soak up the cosmopolitan small-town atmosphere. The most distinguished among them settle at Topping Rose House in Bridgehampton, the area’s first full-service luxury hotel. Guestrooms occupy floors of a history-rich house – it belonged to community stalwart Judge Abraham Topping Rose at the turn of the 20th century – or in newly constructed cottages on the property. Spa services are available, and an eclectic collection of art comes courtesy of New York’s Winston Wächter Fine Art.

Not worth the money. It should be a three star. Would not recommend. Atmosphere is odd..is there anyone training the staff? Teach them manners or give them some general knowledge? The staff had trouble finding guests a table at the restaurant and finding a pen for guests to sign the check. That’s not that hard. We stayed in a cottage. Room is old and unkept. Stains on carpet and upholstery and floor sticky. It was raining out and we had water dripping into our room. Sirens and traffic kept us up most of the night. Staff at reception weren’t welcoming. The flowers at the reception desk were wilted. Staff at the restaurant had no idea and couldn’t answer the simplest questions. The restaurant’s green banquet was actually filthy. Our room wasn’t cleaned. We asked them to do it and when we arrived back we had received turn down service which was nothing but the bed made. Towels not refreshed, garbage not empty, room not tidy, beverages not stocked. When we called to tell them they gaslit us and said we must have put the “Do not disturb sign” on the door. Something positive: I really like the light fixtures in the dining room and the bed linens are clean.

Total Disappointment

The road noise is terrible. You would think they would invest in double pane windows! The staff is very unwelcoming. I have never stayed anywhere where you were not offered an escort to your room and were not asked how your stay was when checking out. The room itself was just ok. The rug in the entryway had multiple stains, the bath tub in the bedroom was dirty, the mattress was soft and the room was really humid. Double pane windows would help that too! Such a shame that the hotel has deteriorated so much.

Excellent experience during my stay. From the front desk helping with luggage, to the host and waiters at the restaurant as well as the general manager being so accommodating. I would recommend this place to anyone!

Corner location had some road noise when outside on the patio. It is a Luxury hotel. The two chairs in the room that are used at the table were very hard, colonial chairs. Could use a cushion. Otherwise a great room. In November and at a time not surrounding Thanksgiving, the price seemed higher than I expected by a large amount. It is a luxury hotel but in "off-season" timing I always wonder why the price remains so high.

Amazing!!!

The Topping Rose was one of the most beautiful places I've ever stayed at. I was there for the Magro Wedding, and the staff was absolutely the most courteous, professional and attentive group of folks I have ever encountered at any hotel!!!! The food was amazing and the bartenders were top notch. When my wife and I come back to long Island this summer, we definitely staying at the Topping Rose. Best experience at a hotel I've ever had!!!!!!
