Stunning period building, beautifully decorated. Staff are seriously some of the best we've experienced, friendly, super efficient, and knowledgeable. Bedroom probably need a little decorating type repairs, but its an old building, and I know drom experience how difficult it is to keep them looking perfect. A delightful hotel in a very central location. A definite keeper in our list of places we'd revisit.

This was a wonderful hotel. The location, the service, the room quality - nearly everything was perfect, and I would say (with one surprising exception) a good value for what you're getting. We stayed in a heritage room which was delightful, big, well-appointed and comfortable. Excellent bed - someone really thought this through - deep, soft mattress with high quality bedding. The breakfast was great and there was a nice touch of giving us a welcome drink in the nicely decorated lounge. If you book directly, they also give you a box of chocolates. And when we left, they gave us a bag of biscuits. In the evening they recommended a list of restaurants which we checked (on TripAdvisor) and then they made a reservation for us at one of them. All of this is to say that I was incredibly surprised by the EV charger fee. This won't apply to 99% of guests, so alienating 1% seems really pointless but here we go. The hotel does have parking, it's not on site but really not far away so that's not an issue, even for EUR 30, which is a little steep but not bad for a secure garage in an ancient city. What is crazy - insane actually - is that they charge SEVENTY (70!) Euros for using their electric car charger. I looked up electricity costs in Belgium and at the high end, the hotel probably pays no more than EUR 0.42 per kWh. So for a car with an 80 kW battery, to fill it 100% (impossible because you'd have to run it down to zero) is only EUR 34. Most people would use a hotel charger to top the car up for the next step in a trip, so likely about 20 EUR worth of juice. To charge 70 EUR is extortionate and is such a weird distraction from what is otherwise a generous and gracious hotel. We found no other examples of such rip-off pricing with them so this stands out as being a head-scratcher. Needless to say, we did not avail ourselves of this service.

My husband and I had a wonderful stay at Hotel De Orangerie. The hotel and staff were excellent! The staff went over and beyond making our stay perfect. I would love to return!!

This is one of the best hotels I have stayed in - and I live in hotels for about 5 months of the year. From the very beginning, the reception staff were incredibly helpful with luggage, directions to the garage, and checking us in. The hotel is extremely comfortable - the room was just right in all regards. There are many extras to make you feel welcome, such as complementary drinks and a biscuit pack to help you on your way when you depart. Right by the canal, near the city centre, next door to the brewery! Close to great restaurants.
