Known as the Venice of the North, the quaint streets of Bruges, Belgium are postcard-picture perfect. Part of the Dutch speaking part of Belgium known as Flanders, Bruges is a medieval city replete with city walls, winding cobblestone streets, bustling town squares, and beautiful canals lined with homes that look like gingerbread cutouts. In the heart of it all find a gem in The Hotel Heritage, where old world refinement and luxury meet modern pampering and indulgence. The Heritage is a haven of comfort and style in this romantic city of canals and history. Recently The Hotel Heritage successfully completed a full renovation of its four suites, and has designed a new lounge, named Le Magnum. This new lounge is a bar concept located inside the 24-room hotel, with the ambience of a private club featuring elegant banquettes and a small library.

We spent 4 days in Bruges. The Hotel Heritage was close to all main attractions and has an incredibly fine little coffee shop across the street from the entrance. (Avi 38). I suggest a cup of coffee there also.

From the minute we walked in the door they took care of us. It was a wonderful experience. The room was extremely comfortable and well appointed. There was fruit left in the room and a nice turn down service. The location couldn't be beat if you want to walk the old section of Bruges. You are right there for all the sights. The city of Bruges was wonderful.

Having stayed at other Relais & Chateaux properties, I was shocked that this hotel had achieved that status. While I have an appreciation for old buildings and their charm, this hotel was downright run-down and dinghy. There were cracks and water damage in the ceiling of the dining room. The decor was sad and depressing, lacking taste and style. The linings of the curtains in our room had large rips and holes in them. The towels and sheets were clean but old. While I could recognize the former beauty of the moldings and woodwork in the common areas of the hotel, there was nothing special about this property. I’m very disappointed to say that of the 4 hotels I stayed in during this trip, this was by far the least nice.

We specifically chose Bruges based on looking for a Relias and Chateaux property in Belgium for a few days out of our Paris trip. This hotel did not disappoint! The staff went above and beyond in every aspect. The Breakfast was the best we’ve ever had. We are already talking about coming back to Bruges to stay here again. Kudos to the staff!!

Everything was fabulous. The welcome reception was warm and informative and the room was very luxurious and romantic.. we loved hearing the church bells next door ring through our window.
