Tucked into a leafy square in Bruges, Belgium, The Pand Hotel is a lovingly converted former private residence, dating from the 18th century and adorned with antiques masterfully selected from the hotelier's own antiques shop. The gracious lobby was once a carriage house, and the library, lounge and cozy bar are steeped in the gracious ambience of old-world, European drawing rooms. Each of the 23 individually decorated bedrooms and Junior Suites is draped in rich Ralph Lauren fabrics, and whirlpools enhance the romantic mood of the suites.

I’d like to write about what a lovely stay we had at The Pand but unfortunately as they have not even responded to our email enquiry we will not be spending the week there for my husbands significant birthday in November as we had planned. Quite shocking that a four star hotel cannot get the basics right. Oh well, back to the drawing board! I remain hopeful that another Bruges hotel will want our business.

I booked us at the Pand almost randomly, and had no idea that it was in THE best location--I really didn't know much about Bruges except that we were told to stay "in the middle." I didn't realize how small it was. That photo you see of Bruges overlooking the canal? Right down the street! The hotel was beautiful, small and charming. We stayed in the Master Suite, which had a king sized bed and two twin beds. We were traveling with our two adult children, and stayed in two rooms most places we went, but decided to stay in this family suite in Bruges--it worked out great. Having two sinks and a separate toilet area was perfect. The only suggestion I would have would be to put up a shower curtain or even a folding screen so people could shower privately and not have to take over the entire bathroom when they shower. The breakfast was delicious, and the staff friendly and hospitable. Oh, and for those who care, the air conditioning was phenomenally arctic (but adjustable).

My husband, adult son and I stayed in two rooms (Junior Suite category) at The Pand. We stayed in six different hotels as we traveled through Europe and The Pand was my favorite one. It is a very small hotel - just 26 rooms I believe. We were on the top floor and our two rooms were the only ones up there. It was so private! In fact, we questioned whether we were the only people staying at the hotel (of course we weren't, but it felt that way!). The hotel is decorated so lovely. Just up a few steps from the check in area is a library and bar. Everything feels like you are staying in a (very rich and cultured) friend's home rather than a hotel. The breakfast was fantastic as well. Fresh breads, the most perfectly ripened fruit and a selection of different egg dishes prepared to your liking. The staff was very friendly and accomodating. And Bruges is a gorgeous and historic city. Ten out of ten. I will definitely stay here again!

What a lovely Boutique hotel! There is no other place I would want to stay in Bruge! The Charming Room was very pretty and clean. Rafael, Fleur, and Monika at the reception were wonderful and provided great recommendations for places to eat and see! Thank you to all of them! Breakfast was delicious and the lady who was in the dining room was so nice to talk to as well. Thank you so much! I hope to get back and stay one day.
