Reviews for Stoke Place

Had my reservations but I was wrong!!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 days ago

Upon check in I was a little apprehensive about the hotel. Slightly dated, receptionist quite informal.. I went to the bar and my first impressions weren’t great.. however! The service from the staff was excellent. The food was absolutely spot on for what o actually wanted and the Malbec was more than drinkable.. my room whilst a bit dated in the house was more than comfortable and clean.. I will definitely come back again. Thank you

Only 2 flat pillows, only 2 tetley tea bags no little luxury touches for the money we paid For a country hotel wasn’t value for money!

Bad experience!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

We visited the hotel in February and it was good apart of a major leak over our bed. Last Thursday 17/7, changed our opinion. Waiter and restaurant manager didn’t care about us, they were on the phone all the time, bedroom is very old, the curtains need wash, mattress stained, the pillows yellow, the bath is stained and the carpet makes me sick to think of it. tables in the terrace all day without clear, full of empty glasses and plates and at this time, I will say, never again.

Beautiful place to stay.

We only spent one night but we were more than happy with the hotel. Our breakfast was excellent and our waitress Aga was very attentive, efficient and friendly. The grounds are beautiful with a huge lake.

This is the second time I've stayed here. The lake is beautiful and one can walk around it and spend time by the lake all day if the weather is good. I stayed in a Junior Suite which is massive and overlooks the Capability Brown lake. Unfortunately, my pictures are too large to post apparently. Now, this place is a bit run down. The furniture is shabby and amenities are basic. Lots of bits and pieces you could pull apart. It would get a serious grilling if it was on Hotel Inspector or 4 In A Bed. However, I wasn't fussed. I know the place and have always loved the house and grounds. It is nice and private too. I've given it a 4 rating, which is a bit too generous considering the hotels I've stayed at in Asia. I played in the grounds of this Manor since a boy so I have a soft spot for it. The staff are helpful, friendly and not in your face. They'll upgrade you too if you ask nicely. My gigantic room was £129 and I booked direct. I had the same room last time and paid £80 & was upgraded. It's a lovely house and grounds with friendly, discrete staff.
