Reviews for Aria Hotel Budapest

Wonderful Hotel!

We loved this hotel. The room was very spacious, creatively decorated and had every amenity. We were greeted with a bottle of wine and chocolate-covered strawberries. The in-room coffee maker was always resupplied and the heated towel rack was useful in drying our bathing suits after visits to the spa with its pool and sauna and jacuzzi. The staff were extremely accommodating across the board, especially Jason who catered to our every need at the outstanding breakfast buffets. And the rooftop bar is lovely with perfect views of the neighboring basilica. My only disappointment was that I had signed up for a massage in the spa,but I was told I couldn’t have it as I had been diagnosed with prostate cancer a year ago (despite having a prostatectomy in July and three subsequent negative PSA tests). This would never happen elsewhere in the world (Major cancer centers (MSK, Mayo, Dana-Farber) actively encourage massage for post-surgical patients, often within weeks of surgery. Oncology massage is a recognized specialty precisely because the old “no massage for cancer patients” thinking has been debunked). So I did some research after the denial and learned that the policy is rooted in old-school Central European balneotherapy doctrine: Hungarian thermal massage tradition combines heat + mineral water + circulation-stimulating massage. The 5-year rule comes from concerns that heat and increased circulation could theoretically reactivate dormant cells or move them via lymphatic flow. This is codified in Hungarian balneological practice — Dr. Tamás Bender’s 2014 textbook is essentially the bible — and it’s why every major bath (Gellért, Széchenyi, Rudas, Baths Budapest) uses nearly identical wording about having to be cancer-free for 5 years. So I guess I can’t blame Hotel Aria for Hungary’s backward medical doctrine. But let me reiterate the key point of this review —- my wife and I loved this hotel.

We found an absolute gem

Booked a couple rooms for two nights with my daughters and I am so glad we choose this hotel. On a quiet and pretty tree lined avenue leading to the Basilica just steps away. The design details and comfort of this hotel are second to none. Every member of staff was super friendly and attentive and made us feel special. My daughters enjoyed the sky bar for the views and the wine while I could retire early without worrying. Oh and they enjoyed the cheese and wine served with compliments every afternoon 🥰

A lovely fascinating hotel

I always loved the website of this hotel and was hoping it would be the same in reality. It was! It is a beautiful place - lovely décor everywhere, all music themed and fascinating. The lobby is very unusual with an intriguing Grand Piano which is played every day alongside other musicians from 4pm to 6pm accompanied by wine and cheese for the guests. A lovely experience. Breakfast is served here also with discreet background music and whilst the fruit selection is a little minimal, the egg preparation was perfect and the pastries on offer too good to refuse with sparkling Hungarian wine should you wish! The Roof top bar is great - right next door to St Stephen's Basilica with City views, nice cocktails, heaters and interesting small bites. Staff there were friendly and fun. The indoor pool was fitted out almost Moroccan style but with a music theme of course! Good size pool. lovely hot jet large tub, to soothe aching touristy muscles. I had an Opera room - themed in purple looking exactly like the web site picture with cute furnished balconies onto the hotel Atrium. Huge room, glamourous bathroom and for once a really good helpful TV system. The bed and pillows were super comfy and all amenities were good. I think this is a great place to stay in Budapest - location is excellent, right in the centre and it has a lot of charm and interesting detail that you would not get in a regular large 5 star hotel. The staff were kind and helpful - Budapest is a difficult City to get around especially alone due its size and the language difficulty and I would suggest contacting them beforehand to plan some accompanied tours to help you Thank you for a lovely stay!

Second time visiting and not a one hit wonder. After staying at Aria in 2024 when we wanted to come back and visit this amazing city only one place we were going to stay. Different room but still the same quality, cleanliness and hospitality Amazing breakfast with everything you need to set you up to a busy day sightseeing Lovely to see Jason again who 18 months ago made ourselves feel like we were the only guests and once again gave the same fabulous service
