This was our second stay at this magnificent hotel. I hope we will stay there many times again in the future. There is nothing I can suggest they improve! and this is after a lengthy trip to Canadas where we stayed in multiple expensive hotels--not one of them holds a candle to the Corinthia- in terms of beauty, cleanliness, location, access to public transportation, the quality of the breakfast ...Most important however is the unbelievable care and attention we received from the staff,,,,desk staff, dining room staff, conscierge. I would not even consider staying in another hotel in Budapest.

Just visited for a 3 day trip with family (of 4). We had the Junior suite with access to spa and Exec Lounge. It’s overpriced and underwhelming. At a cost of about £400/night for all 4 of us, I was expecting more and there were too many issues: - some staff are great but most are not. The service is poor (especially in the Exec Lounge where you’d expect it to be the best - beds are awful - soft and pillows are flat. My 2 kids had the worse rollout beds which were creaky and cheap - Suite was tired and dirty - The taps are awful. One day we had no cold water. The shower runs hot and cold. Any small movement of the tap control and it will either burn you or freeze you - room temperature is too hot and can not be controlled - breakfast each day was ok but after 3 days of the same things it gets boring. Try mixing it up - room key cards stopped working every day. I had to change them 6 times!!! You can’t access the lift either without it. One day we got trapped between floors, couldn’t use the lift and couldn’t find any stairs. All cleaning staff didn’t speak English so we couldn’t find our way out - lift to the executive lounge broke for 2 days. Trapped us inside. Wasn’t fixed by the time we checked out - exec lounge food is never replaced and runs out quickly. Staff are miserable up there and unhelpful. Overall, this place has potential but there’s far too many issues. It’s not 5 star. Don’t waste your money here and stay at some of the other nicer boutiques closer to the centre. DISAPPOINTED

We were really interested to stay here as we heard it was one of the hotels that inspired the Grand Budapest Hotel film. It did not disappoint! Room was spacious and comfortable and had everything you needed. Staff were really kind and helped us book some activities. The spa is gorgeous - if you don't have time for Szechenyi or Margaret Island, you can enjoy their beautiful spa and bath circuit just as much. We had a couple's massage there too and would recommend!

Wonderful facility, friendly, competent, and attentive staff. Definitely worth a try! Beautiful rooms, lovely and well-maintained spa, and a very central location.

Grand old hotel (1896 I think), which was refurbished around 20 years ago. Large, elegant public rooms and the hotel has the potential to be a proper international “5-star” property - but it is not right now. Stayed 1 night in a Deluxe room. Classic furnishings and decor which looked like it hadn’t been upgraded for 20 years. Carpet was clean enough but heavily worn, especially outside the bathroom. Bed was VERY uncomfortable - which prevented me sleeping - far too soft, or maybe the springs / mattress had collapsed. Wanted a hot bath but the tap water was filthy brown (see picture) and the mechanism to open the plug was broken so the dirty water stayed in the tub overnight - used bottled water for brushing teeth. Lots of dust on the bedside light stands, one of the two reading lights didn’t work at all, and thick dirt on the bathroom radiator control - fully visible when sitting on the loo. The pool / spa is excellent - spacious and clean, but not included in all room-rates. Shocked to discover that in the year 2025 the room has no USB sockets at all, and just ONE accessible power socket - at floor level in the corner as far away from the bed as possible. Asked the staff about this but their explanation was “it’s an old building” - yet hotels all over the world, not just expensive ones, have retro-fitted their electrics and sockets elegantly for decades (e.g. sockets on desk-tops, USBs in bedside drawers). I only had a phone and iPad to charge but if I was on a business trip with a laptop, 2 phones, etc, it would be a nightmare. There are sockets on the side-wall by the bed, but if you unplug the lamps there no space to fit a plug + adapter + charger into the wall. Overall, the rooms need investment and modernisation (while keeping the classic design) and housekeeping and maintenance needs a serious upgrade too. I didn’t bother to raise any of these issues at check-out because I wasn’t even asked “How was your stay?” or similar. Likewise, on arrival, check-in was very mechanical - polite but no “warmth” or “welcome” - simply asked for my passport, and then the attempted to up-sell breakfast, etc. Much better value-for-money hotels to stay in Budapest - and you can see the public areas at the Corinthia without having to stay overnight.
