Budapest Christmas Markets

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

Stayed here using the AMEX fine hotels credit. We had 3 rooms and everything worked out great. The breakfast here is amazing and we had a great view out our window. We love Budapest’s Christmas markets and this is in an excellent location to enjoy them all. The hotel was very busy and that’s the only issue we had. Other than that it was a great stay with a very helpful concierge for getting tickets to the various Christmas events.

Location good. Service poor. Price too high for this Service Level.

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

Stayed two nights at the Kempinski Hotel Budapest during a business trip, mainly because of its very central location. The location is indeed excellent and convenient for short walking distances in the city center. Overall, the hotel leaves a decent first impression. However, several aspects do not meet the expectations of a 5-star Kempinski hotel. The small shampoo bottles in the shower feel outdated and more typical of a 3-star property. The room itself was clean, but I had booked a room with a view and unfortunately received a room facing a wall instead of Fashion Street. Breakfast was disappointing. While the food quality was acceptable, it was nothing special. The service was very poor—basic processes like serving coffee were inefficient and disorganized. This was my second stay; the first one was already average, but this time the service quality declined further. Considering a nightly rate of EUR 250–350, there are significantly better 5-star hotel options in Budapest. Staff response to feedback was limited to a polite apology, without any solution or gesture of goodwill. The hotel also shows signs of age and a lack of attention to detail. Due to the overall service level and value for money, I will not return to this hotel and will choose alternative 5-star properties in Budapest in the future.

“A Roller-Coaster Disguised as a Premium Hotel”

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

The location is excellent, but everyone who has ever stayed here has already mentioned that, so I won’t repeat it. Let’s move on to the real highlight — the attraction called “5-star premium you definitely didn’t expect.” Let’s start with the bathroom. The hotel decided to surprise me with a level of minimalism so intense that there was no shampoo or conditioner. Apparently, they believe true luxury is the ability to wash your hair using the power of thought. Normally, these essentials come standard, but here “standard” seems to be a creative concept. I had to go to reception and gently explain that having clean hair is not a whim — it’s a basic human need. The TV also follows its own philosophy. It only shows news and sports — not a single movie, no music, absolutely no entertainment. It feels like they launched a “digital detox” program and just forgot to tell the guests. Though, to be fair, they did offer us a bottle of champagne — perhaps to help us cope with the detox through a different kind of suffering. Now for the restaurant. We ordered goulash. They brought it… warm. Not hot, not cold — specifically “lukewarm, but enjoy.” As for the bread — “not available right now, but on the way.” Apparently, the bread was traveling from another city, because it arrived 10 minutes later, exactly when the goulash had already become a memory. Hunger may be impatient, but not that impatient. The service also strives to impress. It feels less like a premium hotel and more like a roadside diner “between nowhere and further away.” The waitress didn’t finish taking our order — she simply zoomed off to another table as if they were giving out awards at the back of the hall. Service? Customer? Probably words from a future that hasn’t yet reached this place. The evening walk through the corridor is a special genre. Every night, the hallway is decorated with dirty dishes and bags of trash. The path from the elevator to the room turns into an exhibition of modern art called “What the Guests Left Out.” Perhaps it’s an experimental “open space concept,” but I sincerely wish they would close it. Toward the end of our stay, a small ray of light appeared: reception extended our stay for an extra night at the same price, keeping all discounts — for that, truly, thank you. But during checkout, the manager seemed to be in a terrible mood, and since my English isn’t perfect, he chose to switch into aggression mode instead of communication. Fortunately, everything ended with a complimentary airport transfer — probably to make sure we left quickly without further discussions. Final verdict? If you enjoy roller-coaster service, unexpected surprises, and the genre “absurdist comedy,” this hotel is perfect for you. If your vacation is not a gamble — better skip it. This place can surprise you, but not necessarily in a good way.

A joyful stay in a beautiful hotel

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

We arrived at the hotel at noon, went out, and when we came back a surprise was waiting for us: we were upgraded to junior suite! The suite was wonderful! it was spacious, and had the most marvelous view from the windows. the park with the ferris wheel that was lit up in the dark. the bed was wide and comfortable, coffee machine with a daily replenished capsules and 3 types of tea. The bathroom was spacious and spakling clean, and the toileties were by Ferragamo. the towels were in a league of their own. I have never seen such large and thick towels in any hotel. Unfortunatly, breakfast was the weak point for me. Although the buffet was very diverse and inviting, the dining room was crowded and noisy, and there was always a queue for the omlets. The service however was excellent and the coffee arrived instantly. In summary, we greatly enjoyed our stay, and highly recommend it.

We stayed at this establishment for 4 days and found all the staff very friendly and helpful. The Buffet breakfast was good, seemed very busy while we were there and the staff continued to restock for the patrons. Rooms are relatively flash and roomy, No issues with the Wi-Fi. Centrally located to assist with seeing the sights and Shopping
