Nice hotel but could do better

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

The Mamaison is a nice hotel but no longer luxury compared to the bigger hotels in central Budapest. When we arrived our heating was blowing at 28c so I turned it down but the temperature still went up. On complaining I was informed the heating was now on it's winter setting so to cool the room we should turn the heating off and open the balcony door. We did this the rest of our stay which kept the temperature around 24c but also meant noise from the piano playing in the dining room and also road noise. Day two we returned to our room to find the maid had changed towels etc but had forgotten to make our bed. Next day our sheets were changed for smaller ones that barely reached the bedsides so couldn't be tucked in. The towels were also threadbare and needed disposing. In it's favour the hotel is on a corner of Andrassy between 6-7 metro stops from the city centre. There are numerous embassies close to the hotel with CD plated cars all over the place. We found travel on the metro and tram systems very easy with signs in English. Buy a 3 or 5 day pass at the airport (0ver 65's travel free throughout the city). The hotel breakfasts although plentiful were cold to warm rather than hot, shame really as the scrambled eggs were very tasty. Staff were friendly and helpful especially as we had a 4am taxi pickup to return us to the airport after our break.

Dream vacation!

I was in Budapest in December with my wife and we had a wonderful holiday thanks to the hotel. The receptionist was very friendly and kind. The rooms are clean and very bright and spacious and we love the modern furniture. The hotel's location is close to the metro station, which makes it easy to get anywhere in Budapest. We were very satisfied with everything and will definitely return. I recommend it to everyone!

Escape the touristy inner city and stay in one of the most picturesque parts of Budapest at great value.

Great value hotel in a lovely location amongst the mansions/embassies of Budapest. There is ample walking opportunities to the nearby parks and scenic castles which act as a nice escape from the busy central streets you will be amongst most of the time travelling in between tourist sites. We really enjoyed the convenience of having the metro within walking distance which gets you into the main transport hub within 5 minutes. From there you can find all the main connecting trains, trams and buses. If you want to enjoy the hot springs at Széchenyi Thermal Bath - the hotel location means you can get discounted tickets ‘Good morning Budapest’ pre 9am tickets without much hassle. As it was so close, we visited during multiple early mornings before the crowds pour in after 10. Finally, the service and hospitality at the hotel was great. Special mention to Bernadette and Abel who helped us with numerous request and information during our stay. Due its small size you can get to know the hotel staff quite well during your stay.

Fab Location ! But Only book balcony larger room

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 months ago

No doubt a Great location and I think our experience of 5 days may have been better had we Booked another room but we're swayed by reviews and photos ! But we were disappointed our room was first floor from the open plan reception area So very noisy especially as People and groups chatted loudly, also around early breakfast times ! Outside noisy chatter too from all balconies above until late at night! The room was small and the coffee machine did not work but was replaced day 3 weeks were there 5 days so we just bought own coffee and used as a kettle, however they tried to charge us for All coffee pods used so be aware as we did not know or were told this!!! We would stay again but only in another room! The staff were friendly and helpful!

I have never felt so welcome at any hotel that I have stayed in. The staff was brilliant and always remembered your name. Nice spacious rooms - other establishments should base their service on this hotel!

My friend and I combined two packages for a great trip in September. The Andrassy exceeded my expectations in a big way. It was fabulously located, the staff was warm and welcoming, and the rooms were just beautiful. All the extras that were included really sent us over the top! A half-day private city tour, dinner at the hotel restaurant, ballet tickets, a Budapest card for free subway and bus rides, a bottle of champagne and a beautiful book to top it all off! I absolutely cannot say enough great things...

We loved the kindness and friendly attitude given us at the Hotel Andrassy in Budapest this spring. We cannot remember a more personalized and genuinely respectful house.

The staff is genuinely eager to please and to help. Our room was spacious, comfortable and very nicely appointed. Breakfast and dinner at the Baraka Restaurant were excellent. The Andrassy Hotel is located in a quiet neighborhood, but is close to the Hero Square and The Museum of Fine Arts, the Hungarian National Gallery, the Kogart House and the Opera. There is a Metro just a few feet away that will take you into the center of Budapest and to the River Danube. I have no hesitation recommending this hotel - we had a wonderful stay.
