Built by Hungarian Freemasons in the 19th century, the historic Mystery Hotel Budapest is full of wonder and mystique. Located in Budapest’s 6th district, this new luxury boutique hotel is shrouded with legends, secrets, and optical illusions above the front desk, the fire by the entrance, and the elevator hidden by the curtains. Stay in intricately designed studio and suite-style guest rooms. Indulge in sumptuous cuisine at The Great Hall - the hotel restaurant and bar - serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Private dining options are available as well as an unforgettable rooftop experience.

A quality property with a fun vibe. The breakfast was great. What really makes this property special is the staff particularly the extremely helpful front desk

I REALLY TEALLY wanted to love this hotel and booked after all the 5 star reviews. I am a travel agent AND was in country for a conference and reconning properties for next years international conference. I booked through AMEX THC since the price was very attractive and thinking next year with members coming from across the globe with various travel budgets, this venue may be a contender I was disappointed. FIRST, the room we had felt dated, was dark, there were no drawers, and there was lots of fabrics that hold dust and dampness and there the room overall felt just dank and blah. I didn’t like that the toilet and sink were in different rooms; about 10-12 feet apart. I imagined how many people used the toilet, turned light switch, walked across the room, turned on another light switch and if the hotel cleaned them daily as well. Seems small to some but think about this…So after using the bathroom one has to walkthrough sleeping area to another room to wash hands. Maybe this is not uncommon in Hungary. I found it inconvenient and not some “cute” boutique hotel quirk. Also BEWARE, I was unable to fully use the $100 property credit offered through AMEX THC because food items purchased from front desk (Delish sandwich and chips) are classified (at the preference of the General Manager) as “Mini-Bar” and not part of the restaurant. Sort of shady if you ask me. I was off to conference before kitchen opened and returned to hotel after kitchen closed. I was so GRATEFUL that the sandwich was available and wouldn’t have had an issue if this was explained during check in or when I requested from front desk. Maybe boutique hotels are just not for me.

The Mystery hotel exudes luxury and comfort. It is a wonderful place to relax and revive after a busy European tour before the gruelling flights home to Australia .
