Reviews for Hotel Casa Lucia

Beautiful building and location - Could be five-star but service level is average at best

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 5 days ago

To begin with positives: the hotel has a stunning lobby and nice bar area, and the location/neighborhood is perfect (safe, posh, quiet, lots of lovely cafes, restaurants) when visiting Buenos Aires. The lobby desk staff is friendly and tries to be helpful, but they lack proper training (the mistakes made regarding my reservation were numerous for four consecutive days, requiring me to show up to the hotel to correct them; also many phone hang-ups or not answering at all). The doormen are kind and helpful with baggage/cars but do not open doors (not exactly five-star hotel service); the bartender/some staff were professional and friendly; though others serving the lobby bar were so slow and non-responsive that we left on two occasions. I had to go directly to the bar to get my drink after waiting so long! (the lobby bar had only six people there at the time). A special call-out and thank you to Rocio at the lobby desk who was exceptional in her assistance with several issues that others could not resolve; her level of customer service was fabulous. The hotel overall is not five-star by any stretch (go to Hyatt Duhau for perfect five-star service). The 'regular' room is tiny even for one person. The bathroom shower is ridiculous in size; I am 115 lbs and could hardly fit, and turning around meant hitting the handle and it was stressful to even be in there. The tiny sleeping room had one small window and very little natural light. The bed was not very comfortable (linens were lovely) since the mattress was uneven. The carpet was stained and certainly needed a complete refresh. I searched for the property manager for three days and was told it was holiday time so she would not be in until my departure day. I spoke with the Guest Experience Manager and while telling him my issues, he walked away. I sent the hotel survey feedback and I believe I received a note of apology from this same gentleman (Jose Luis T - he seems to respond to all the Tripadvisor feedback as well). It's such a shame this lovely property doesn't meet international five-star service standards at all.

Vibe-y little Retiro gem

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

Casa Lucia has a gasp-worthy interior upon entering, but you actually need to walk behind the bar to reception in order to check in. I arrived early and my room was not yet ready, but they stored my luggage while I explored the neighborhood. Upon checking into my room, I was disappointed that there wasn't more natural light. However, the mattress was comfortable, and I liked the roomy bathroom. I would upgrade the sheets if possible-they left a lot of lines on my skin. Breakfast is LOVELY-a true, true highlight. Generally, the property was great, save for the chaos of the elevator (slow, crowded), the sheets (higher thread count, please!) and the general chaos of the reception area, which is small and crowded with people and luggage. Staff did their best to accommodate. I also wished my room had a second window, but I suppose it's on me for not upgrading my room. Housekeeping did a prompt job cleaning, though the rug could have used an additional vaccuum. The location is excellent-a 5-minute walk to the nearest metro stop, the main square (my bike tour started there), and only a 25-minute Uber ride from the international airport. It was also easy to reach the supermarket, numerous cafes and other historical sites. Retiro is a leafy, stately neighborhood-keep that in mind if you're looking for a livelier experience.

SEVEN STAR SERVICE 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

SEVEN STAR SERVICE. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟. I’ve stayed at best hotels in the world and the service here is unparalleled! They were fully sold out but somehow made a room for me- offering me food and drinks while I waited, carrying my bags, bending over backward when they didn’t have to do it. Every single staff member is like that- treats you like a very special VIP guest, super friendly and accommodating. I wish I had more than 1 night to stay here just to feel their pampering more. Can’t say enough good things. The hotel is SO GORGEOUS, the rooms are beautiful too with every upscale amenity you’d want & super clean. Just perfect.

Pleasant stay.

Casa Lucia Buenos Aires is a wonderful hotel located on a quiet, beautiful street in one of the city’s most charming areas. It’s within walking distance of many attractions and excellent restaurants. The prime location and stunning architectural building certainly add to its appeal. The room was a good size, and the bed was very comfortable. However, a few small details slightly lowered my overall impression. There were some scuff marks on the walls, and paint had not been fully removed from certain fixtures. These minor issues don’t ruin the stay but are noticeable in a hotel at this price level. The staff is very friendly and helpful, especially Nicolas and Luciano — a big thank you to both of them for their excellent service. My biggest disappointment was related to pricing. I booked six nights for $1,799.29, but at checkout the total was significantly higher due to exchange rate differences. Make sure you pay for your booking in advance in U.S. dollars; otherwise, you may end up paying more. Additionally, when my flight was delayed due to a storm on the East Coast, I asked to extend my stay until midnight. The hotel offered a half-day stay for $210 (the rate for a simpler room that day), which I gladly accepted. However, at checkout, the amount charged was again higher due to the exchange rate. In total, I ended up paying $2,130 for six nights plus the half-day extension. I strongly recommend paying the full amount in advance to avoid surprises with currency fluctuations. Overall, I loved my stay in one of the most beautiful cities in the world, and I would love to come back.
