This was a nice hotel/restaurant to stop at on our drive from Madrid to/from San Sebastián. We actually ate at the bar twice. They have a nice informal menu. Check out the hotel lobby. It’s beautiful. I imagine local couples using this setting for a wedding.

Badly managed, unhappy staff and poor service. Food inedible, frozen produce and staff are embarrassed and apologetic for serving such bad food. Rooms old & need renovation, no air conditioning, linen cheap and rough. Traffic noise & generally very unhappy place.

This is a rather wonderful, rather bizarre hotel that reminds me of old-fashioned English hotels that I used to stay in as a child. The building is quite unique and well-maintained. We loved all the nooks and crannies, and the eclectic furnishings. Our room was large and comfortable, and the bathroom was big and functional (even if it looked as though it had been last decorated in the 1980s). My one complaint about the bathroom was that there was no hair conditioner. The pool area is very nice, although it's a bit of a shame that you cannot swim between the outside and indoor pools any more. However, the grounds of the pool area need a tidy-up - it's was very ill-kempt lawn, with some rather uncomfortable loungers strewn across it. And there is no bar service outdoors, which would make all the difference on a summer's evening. Our meal in the restaurant was good (without being exceptional) but we loved our efficient, friendly server.

The location is right next to a major road, and when leaving the main carriageway the entrance will catch you out as it is literally 5m from the start of the exit slip road. The building is amazing, and at first glance it appears excellent. However, our visit was completely spoiled by poor customer service. We let the reception staff know we were vegetarian when we booked a table in the restaurant, and we then advised the waitress and asked for advice when ordering. Half-way through eating our starters we found lumps of pork fat in the soup. We left the rest, and our meals were completely ruined, as any vegetarian will understand. When we pointed the meat out to the waitress she laughed and referred to remembering that we were vegetarian. When we raised this with the reception staff on check-out they also giggled. We were charged for the inedible food.

This hotel is something else. I can’t describe it in words except you don’t expect it on the side of a highway near Burgos. BIG EVERYTHING… castle style entrance, castle style staircase, castle style literally everything. Big rooms, big bathroom, super bathtub and fluffy towels. Didn’t have time to have breakfast but pretty sure it’s delicious. We did have dinner , the lamb is famous. All good and will defo try stay here next time While Passing Burgos. If I were to nitpick I’d say their pillows are awful. I’d invest in softer one. Just saying.
