Metropol used to be a lovely experience, but it has definitely gone downhill. It is getting more & more expensive with fewer specials on offer. The rooms are getting tired and the bedding less comfortable. Room servicing has been reduced to every third day. No free water in the room - honestly, for the price you pay, how stingy is that?! Our room overlooked the carpark and the incredibly bright security lights shone around the edge of the curtains all night, lighting up the room & allowing me no sleep at all. The price of breakfast there is beyond a joke. The whole place now feels like a money-grab with no care about the comfort of their guests. Mini bar prices were ridiculous. Many cheaper hotels will at least provide water & free bickies for your coffee. On a positive note I found all of the staff I encountered to be polite & friendly.

My wife and I stay in hotels regularly. Weekends away. Taking in a show or just holidays. What you get for your money is becoming less and less. We stayed in the crown towers for a couple of nights in a suite. Not cheap tremendous room but the small things. 1 tooth brush who shares a tooth brush. No access to the lounge that would have been an extra $1000 on top of the room rate for the 2 nights. This weekend we stayed at the Metropol. Again nice room. Not much change out of $900 for a night. (In room dining and breakfast). We were surprised to find the complementary water no longer exists. Again 1 tooth brush I ask who shares a toothbrush. Such a shame the small things are no longer part of the rate. Oh we used the bottle and got slugged $11 for it.

Me and Marisa had 2 nights stay at the Metropol, in 2019 we’d stayed in the Crown Towers. Our experience at the Metropol was just as good. We came early as we had a coach trip booked for 2pm, Kayleigh on the reception helped us check in early as our room was free. The room, lovely and comfy with great facilities. The pool, like with the room, was really nice offering plenty of beds. Can’t fault the hotel, we enjoyed it. It was around 360 dollars for 2 nights (Monday and Tuesday). Great location, 15 minute walk to the Optus and the Swan River.

Disappointing in a word. Where to start, they are extracting every cent for as little as they can offer. Room service took 4 x rings and took well over an hour. The is no daily room clean, no bed made up, no cups washed etc. No water in room, I mean a basic cheap bottle of water none. TV old, slow and basic offerings. Service around in pool is a task and no one seems happy if you do happen to get one. They have lost the simple art of the customer all about profit, better places to stay for the money. Oh btw furniture is looking old and jaded.

We had a disappointing stay at the Metropol over the last couple of days. The girl who checked us in was a little snippy which was not very welcoming. We had booked three rooms and one of them wasn’t ready until after 3.30 which meant my daughter wasn’t able to put the baby down for a nap. When they eventually got into their room there was no cot which had been requested on booking and also at checkin. One of our rooms had a loose panel on the ceiling which we reported and maintenance attended the following morning. They left a card to say it had been repaired but it was still hanging loose when we returned to the room. There were cracks in the bathroom sink which was unsightly and rather unhygienic looking. There are no USB points in the rooms We were unable to purchase breakfast items at the poolside despite the menu being clearly displayed. The only way we could have breakfast poolside was to order it through room service which was more expensive. We are not big eaters in the morning and found the restaurant buffet prices very expensive at $49 per person. Overall we found the rooms to be a bit tired and in need of updating. We have stayed there on several occasions over the last few years but the place is definitely going downhill. The lobby is lovely but the rooms definitely need updating.
