About the Hotel

The Cape, a Thompson Hotel, is redefining the coastline of Los Cabos. Open in June 2015, there’s no trace of the traditional Mexican beach resort. Sleek architectural lines eschew Spanish tile, and the rooftop bar channels New York City with a tropical vibe. The hotel is still distinctly Mexico – ceramicist José Noé Suro contributed contemporary art pieces, and hand-painted tile appears throughout the property. Arrive to a room dressed in bespoke Latin American furniture and accessorized with special touches – there’s a tequila welcome gift and a set of binoculars for spying on whales, which frequent the waters surrounding the Baja Peninsula.

Here for a wedding

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

We stayed at The Cape for my brother's wedding and overall had a very nice experience. The highlight of the property is definitely the incredible view of the Arch in the distance. The open-air lobby is stunning and immediately gives you that luxury Cabo vibe. We traveled with our three children (ages 7, 9, and 11), and while the resort is beautiful, I would not consider it particularly kid-friendly. We booked a two-bedroom suite with a private plunge pool and large outdoor patio, and that ended up being perfect for our family. The kids spent most of their time in our private pool since it gave them space to play without disturbing other guests. The resort has two pools. The larger main pool seemed geared more toward adults who were relaxing, drinking, and enjoying a quieter atmosphere. It wasn't really a place where kids could run around, be loud, or jump into the pool. The smaller pool was a little more relaxed but still felt geared toward adults. The room itself was excellent. The two-bedroom layout gave everyone plenty of space, and the huge outdoor patio was one of our favorite features. Food was a mixed experience. Room service had limited options that appealed to our kids, but they really enjoyed the breakfast buffet each morning because there was a good variety of food. We also dined at Manta, and unfortunately the kids were not fans of the menu or food choices. We attended a wedding reception on the rooftop, and the venue was beautiful with amazing views. The food was decent, but many dishes arrived warm or cold rather than hot. Overall, The Cape is an excellent resort for couples, adults, and special events like weddings. Families with younger children can still enjoy it, especially if staying in a suite with a private pool, but those looking for a highly kid-focused resort may want to consider other options.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS HOTEL!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

They have changed! STAY AWAY FROM THIS HOTEL. We got burned for $1500 on a upcharge that we did not authorize. Plus, we had issues with the drain in the tub draining into the room. They couldn't fix it.

Almost Perfect

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 6 days ago

Overall, we had a wonderful experience at The Cape. The property is beautiful, the views are absolutely stunning, and the entire experience feels luxurious and well-curated. The facilities were well-maintained, and every staff member we encountered was friendly, welcoming, and attentive. The only areas for improvement were the food pricing, which felt high for what was offered, and communication regarding transportation. We were told our transportation had not arrived, only to later learn it had come and left without us being notified, which created unnecessary stress at the end of our visit. Despite these issues, we thoroughly enjoyed our time at The Cape and would recommend it to anyone looking for a beautiful luxury experience in Cabo.

An absolutely perfect stay!

The Cape was an absolutely perfect stay! My wife and I loved every second of our time here, as we celebrated our anniversary. The breakfast was delicious and so filling, the view was stunningly beautiful, our dinner at Manta was a top 3 meal ever for my wife and I, and the staff was so friendly! If you're looking for a restful place to relax and enjoy the sun, come here - you won't regret it!

Second trip was just as good as the first

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 weeks ago

We are just leaving from our second stay at the Cape. We were here four years ago and I was slightly worried that the property might look a little tired four years later, but it did not. I would recommend room 201. I also want to give a shout out to a couple of very special staff members that made our stay extra special… Michele was the concierge that helped book all of our restaurant reservations and private transfers. Huge shout out to the pool staff especially Fernanda, Hugo, Fabiano, and Gustavo. Another special thank you to Milton at the ledge bar for always picking out the perfect drink for my husband. Also, the spa is incredible, don’t miss out on that. Manuel was our driver for the week and he was secured by the hotel and he was amazing. Can’t wait to come back. Expert tip, if you want it more quiet, come during the week, if you want to see more people there, come on the weekend.

We loved our stay. The hotel is beautiful. Highlights include location, natural beauty, amazing balconies, and layout, staff was hard-working, attentive, friendly, and accommodating.

The rooftop is spectacular. The sunsets and views were incredible. Food and drinks were overpriced but good. The beach was not swimmable which is a negative, but clean, private and gorgeous. Fun to watch surfers. They could use some board games, deck of cards, or even a fancy chess board to add to the super fun pool table. Well-positioned elevators, etc. Really well-designed hotel. They've thought of everything. Beautiful gardens and natural surroundings are immaculately kept. Other guests were respectful, pleasant, polite and friendly.

While the concierge is in contact by text and email, they were not entirely helpful. They were unable to help us with dinner reservations. We ended up doing it all ourselves with ease. It seemed as if they were trying to keep us at the hotel for all meals. We were there for a week and had rented a car. Our plan was to explore and eat elsewhere for a few meals. However, I did not sit down and speak with the concierge face to face, so perhaps this would have made a difference.

We were at the hotel on New Year's Eve and they had a rooftop party. Our room was on the 3rd floor but still impacted by the sound and vibration of the base and music. I spoke with the manager and they satisfactorily resolved it. The New Year's eve rooftop party would have been incredible, so my feedback would be to let guests know about the potential for noise before they book - much like what a hotel would do if there was construction. They also brought earplugs to my room immediately after my call to the front desk and they helped immensely. One other thing that I couldn't understand - no tea or coffee in the rooms! This would have made a huge difference to me.

Our experience with Luxury Link was a 10/10.
