I stayed at the Marriott Mena House in Giza (Cairo) from January 4th to 7th, and it was a truly memorable experience. The property is imposing and evocative, set in a fairy-tale setting with a breathtaking view of the Pyramids, making the stay unique from the very first glance. The hotel offers every comfort: a swimming pool, spa, golf course, and three restaurants capable of satisfying the tastes of every traveler. The atmosphere is refined and retro in style, filled with a sense of history and the magnificence of Egypt, along with the memory of the many distinguished personalities who have stayed there over time. The rooms are not modern in style, but they preserve their Egyptian charm, being spacious, well-maintained, and equipped with comforts that exceed expectations. Perhaps the only small suggestion would be a slight modernization of the bathrooms, which would make the experience even more complete. Despite the size of the property, attention to guests is impeccable: the staff is always kind, helpful, and ready to assist with any request or need. The center of Cairo is easily reachable, but what truly makes the stay special is the possibility of returning to a place characterized by vast open spaces, greenery, desert landscapes, silence, and absolute relaxation. This is a hotel that is not just an accommodation, but an experience to be lived. Highly recommended.

Marriott Mena House, thank you so much for the most amazing stay! Everything was top notch from the amazing suite room, to the food, and most importantly the staff. The entire staff at the hotel were excellent (restaurant staff, concierge, front desk, room servicing, etc.). Seeing the pyramids was a lifelong dream and staying at your hotel made it perfect! -from a Lifetime Platinum Member

We stayed in a deluxe room with premium pyramid view and frankly the view was... underwhelming. You get a similar or better view of the pyramids from the restaurant that serves breakfast, and it's FREE and available to everyone in the hotel. The room itself is "typical" of what you would expect from a Marriott hotel, aside from the view. We stayed at the St. Regis when we first arrived in Cairo (Mena House was an overnight before our departure flight), and this hotel pales in comparison to the quality of service we received at the St. Regis. As my wife noted, this hotel seemed more "touristy" and less personal. There were two exceptions during our stay: Menna and the two waiters in the lounge, and Ahmed who took care of our luggage and helped us find our driver during checkout. These four provide the exceptional service we expect from a 5-star hotel. It wasn't all bad. The breakfast had an abundance of choices and the best view of the pyramids (pics with water and flowers). The lounge also served a good variety of food and desserts (try the Asia desserts!) and team provides exceptional service!

Fantastic staff was the highlight of our visit, beautiful grounds, a variety of good food options, rooms are very nice and clean. Maha was very helpful and kind and our server at dinner was also great though sadly I can’t remember his name.

You can't beat the location but that's about it. And, you can't make everything about money. We had our fare share of issues with little alternatives. To start, were sent an email a month in advance that there will be a wedding on one of the nights of our stay and that there will be noise at night. Then only a couple of days in advance, we were informed that there will be two weddings and we should expect noise in two consecutive nights. There was no option to help with the noise or any complimentary amenities provided. After we reached the room, for one of the rooms the lights were not working. After calling them, they sent someone to fix it. They fixed it but it broke again in 20 mins. They sent someone to fix it again. Finally it was fixed. We then noticed there there was a gap between the doors and no matter what you try there was a lot of noise coming in to the room, just from the road, eg cars, honking, etc. On top of that, the wedding noise was unbelievably loud and went on till 11PM. For two consecutive nights. We requested for room on the other side of the building which had views of the pyramids but they said we need to pay a substantial about for them to do that. We were already paying about $700 for a night per room and didn't want to add to our cost. We also complained about room AC/fans not working, bathrooms not having utilities. You expect better from a 5star Marriott costing so much! They have 3 restaurants. Only one opens for breakfast and lunch. Moghul and Alfredo were fine but 139 restaurant is an absolute shambles. They have amazing views of the pyramids but the service is absolutely horrendous. We once sat for one hour, asking them to clean the table without any luck. It's just unbelievably bad. When we complained about it while check out, they offered us a $50 discount from a $8500 bill. Like in everywhere in Egypt. staff are looking for tips all the time. Staff behaviour in the bar wasn't they great. They keep asking you for your nationality for some reason. All in all, it's a property in an amazing location. There is nothing else quite like it near the pyramids and I guess that is why they are milking that cow so well!
