Wow, oh wow — what an incredible stay at Solage in Calistoga. Before we even arrived, Ashley King from the concierge team reached out and truly set the tone for what would become one of the most memorable hotel experiences we’ve ever had. She went above and beyond helping us plan family-friendly dining, wineries, and activities, but what really stood out was the care she took in understanding our trip. We were celebrating my son’s 7th birthday, and he has autism, and Ashley thoughtfully asked about his interests and preferences. When we arrived, we were blown away. Waiting in the room was a giant Daniel Tiger plushie, along with coloring pages and toy cars — all based on what I had shared with her. My son was absolutely overjoyed. It was such a meaningful and personal touch that immediately made him feel comfortable and excited. Both of my kids loved the room. My 11-year-old daughter especially enjoyed relaxing on the patio, drawing, and taking in the beautiful natural surroundings. Even though it was unseasonably warm during our stay, the thoughtful touches — like cold jugs of water waiting in the fridge — made a huge difference. The complimentary wine was also a lovely bonus. Dining at Solbar was another highlight. The food was phenomenal, and our waitress (I wish I remembered her name — she wore glasses) was incredibly kind, patient, and accommodating with our son. The experience didn’t stop there — the food and beverage manager came out to introduce himself and surprised my son with a race car, which absolutely made his night (and yes, it made it safely home and is now a favorite!). We spent nine days traveling through Northern California and stayed at several beautiful, high-end resorts — but Solage was, without question, our favorite. As someone who has worked in luxury hospitality for over 15 years, including at Ritz-Carlton, Eau Palm Beach, and InterContinental Hotels, I do not say this lightly — I have never experienced this level of thoughtful, personalized care, especially when traveling with a neurodivergent child. What Solage delivered went far beyond service; it was intuitive, empathetic, and truly exceptional. Other luxury hotels — take note: this is how you welcome and care for autistic travelers and their families. Solage didn’t just meet expectations, they redefined them. I will be recommending Solage to anyone who will listen!

The resort is wonderful however it is not a 5* resort. I would say a high 4*. I contacted housekeeping to request that our sheets be changed after noticing what appeared to be a blood stain on the flat sheet, they responded promptly and changed them right away, which I appreciated. I would also note that the shower needs a more thorough cleaning. Because the dark tile and grout can make buildup less noticeable, it may be easy to overlook, but I did notice what appeared to be mildew in the grout. The showers in the women’s locker room need immediate attention. There was clearly visible black mold present, which is unacceptable in a spa setting.

Outstanding and relaxing experience from beginning to end, would stay here again without hesitation. Studios are spacious and comfortable and the spa was probably one of the best resort experiences I’ve had.

Amazing property and service. This is what 5-star should mean. Anything less than Solage is 4 stars or below. Quinn went above and beyond to plan our experiences.
