The Lake House is the first hotel of its kind on the banks of Canandaigua Lake. The property’s picturesque buildings and landscaped grounds are the perfect settings to make new, lasting memories of outdoor adventures and romantic getaways. There are 124 impeccably designed guest rooms, a timber frame event barn, an outdoor pool, and a destination spa. The hotel also offers a signature restaurant, Rose Tavern, featuring locally-sourced ingredients and stellar wines from the Finger Lakes, as well as the locally beloved lakeside Sand Bar.

This place is so beautiful and the staff is amazing. Anders was our server at Rose Tavern he went above and beyond!! He is so thoughtful and knowledgeable. It was such a lovely experience! we also met the manager Jim while walking to our building and he was so kind and made us feel so welcome. He comped some drinks for us at dinner too, which was such a thoughtful gesture! We would love to come back

I really wanted to love The Lake House on Canandaigua, and in many ways, it gets so much right. The rooms are undeniably beautiful, with a Scandinavian-inspired minimalist elegance that feels calm, modern, and thoughtfully designed. The restaurants and lounges are equally inviting (cozy, warm, and exactly what you’d hope for during a winter escape). From a purely aesthetic standpoint, the hotel is stunning. Unfortunately, none of that matters when you can hear every single word your neighbors say. We went to bed early, expecting a peaceful night, only to be jolted awake when the room next door returned from a wedding. And by “heard them,” I don’t mean muffled sounds or indistinct noise. I mean it sounded as if they were standing directly over our bed, carrying on a full-volume conversation. Every word. Every laugh. Every detail of the evening. They eventually left again, but returned around 1:30 a.m., this time with even more wedding gossip to share-loudly, enthusiastically, and with absolutely no barrier between their room and ours. It became so comically loud and absurd that all I could do was laugh. Still, laughter doesn’t replace sleep. It was genuinely the worst night of sleep I’ve had in years. Now, after what was supposed to be a peaceful winter getaway, I feel like I need a vacation from my vacation. What’s truly mind-boggling is that this is not a new hotel. At this point, the soundproofing issue should have been addressed long ago. It makes you wonder whether repeat guests are simply less important when wedding revenue keeps the rooms booked. If so, that’s disappointing, because a hotel at this price point should absolutely prioritize guest comfort. In short: gorgeous rooms, lovely public spaces, great atmosphere. But until the soundproofing between rooms is seriously improved, I wouldn’t return. A luxury stay should include the ability to sleep.

The hotel is kept in great shape. The customer service is fantastic. We were greeted at the front desk by Aurellia, who made our entire experience delightful. Food and Drinks were very good. We booked a hot stone massage at the hotel’s spa and it was worth every penny. Overall the experience was a great way to spend New Year’s eve.
