Rising from the site of a grand old Canary Islands estate is the decade-old Gran Hotel Bahia del Duque, situated on the south coast of Tenerife and part of Leading Hotels of the World. Spread across 17 subtropical acres, this Spanish resort resembles a magnificent village, with a collection of nearly two dozen oceanfront buildings housing spacious rooms and suites, many with seaside views. The resort is completely full service, with 6 swimming pools, a trio of tennis courts, two squash courts, a fitness center, massage therapy, putting green and plenty of water activities.

We visited last week just for lunch, as we popped to the beach for a day out from our hotel in the north. The beach was amazing, and the bar was fabulous, food was delicious and the staff were all friendly. And the sun was shining! We loved it all so much, I have been looking at booking the hotel at some point in the future!

We were only here for a short stay for 4 nights. It was an amazing hotel and the grounds are beautiful. The pools are lagoon style which we loved - obviously man made but my 14 year old daughter loved swimming around them and exploring. It is a very chilled out hotel so don't expect lots of entertainment during the day but we liked this as didn't want to keep being hassled to do things as this was a relaxing break for us - we did see one aqua aerobics take place. There were lots of sunbeds so no mad dash but by 11am they were nearly all gone and on the first day were were a bit of a way from the pool. The bali beds are included no extra cost so you can use these at your leisure. We had a delux double room with balcony and garden view which was lovely and quite near one of the pools so easy access and often moved to that pool near the end of the day as loads of beds around by 3/4pm Staff were all exceptional :) Particularly Jesus! Loved the traditional vibe and the traditional clothing they wore Rooms were lovely - we had a delux double with an additional bed for my daughter. Bed for me and my husband was massive. Lots of wardrobe space. Robes and slippers. Sun beds on the balcony plus 2 chairs and a table and an awning. Room was warm when were arrived but once we had worked out air con it was very cool. Powerful shower. Double sink and plenty of space for toiletries. Complimentary still and sparkling water and coffee/tea milk. Molton brown products in bathroom. Things to be aware of: -no drinks service round the pool but there were 2 bars where we bought drinks - one had lovely smoothie style drinks my daughter loved -All bar one restaurant, men have to wear long trousers and tables need to be booked (we'd already decided to go out in the evening so was no big deal) Did eat at the Upalupa which was lovely and great vibe, not issue getting a place there at 8.30pm, chilled out and men could wear shorts. -hotel is extremely safety conscious and is not open to non guests. Security guard on the door on the beach access, so felt really safe. -Its is on massive grounds and there are lots of steps - wouldn't advise if you are not very mobile however there are buggys that staff will drop you round at the drop of a hat -could do with a snack eating area for lunch (though we tried to eat a decent portion at breakfast we didn't really need it most days). -not the cheapest for drink and food (which is why we did bed and breakfast - did have cocktails on the last night -Great location for the beach, just across the promenade Overall a fab experience would highly recommend particularly if you want a chilled our, relaxing place.

Wow this hotel is spectacular. This was our 2nd visit and both times it was brilliant I didn’t want to leave. I could not find fault at all. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. The hotel is kept immaculate. We also looked at one of the villas whilst we was there this was amazing. We have booked to go back again in October 25. Looking forward to being back in our happy place.

I visited this hotel today with my family to explore the property for a potential future booking during my trips to Tenerife. As I am now staying in similar level hotel, but I like to change my hotel in every visit to experience more accommodations.Since I regularly spend my summers in Spain, visiting luxury destinations such as Barcelona, Marbella, Málaga, Mallorca, and Madrid, and I always make it a point to visit five-star hotels before choosing where to stay. Upon arrival, we were warmly welcomed by the security team, valet service, and parking staff, and the hotel lobby looked beautifully designed. However, when we approached the reception to request a short tour, we were surprised by the receptionist’s reaction. She questioned how we entered the hotel and informed us that security would escort us out since we weren’t staying there. This was unexpected and disappointing, especially given the standard of service one would normally expect from a five-star property. The receptionist explained that this was hotel policy and management instructions, but unfortunately, the manner in which it was handled made us feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. I work as an executive in one of the world’s top 100 banks, and part of my role involves financing projects of this nature. I would recommend that the management revisit these procedures and ensure that guest interactions reflect the high standards associated with luxury hospitality. While the hotel facilities seem impressive, this experience has left me hesitant about considering Bahía del Duque Resort for future stays unless there is a change in approach to guest relations.

Currently halfway through a week’s stay…the site itself is lovely but we have found a few things to be a bit disappointing. Our room has very old air con which is not very effective-definitely not what you expect for a luxury stay. There is no buffet so you have to book into a choice of few restaurants where the food is very patchy and often requires you to pay a supplement on top of half board. We have found the food to be quite poor and over priced compared to other chains like Domes. The beach is lovely and the sea is so blue-be aware that although it looks like it belongs to the beach you have to pay for the sunbeds-again not something we experienced at Domes in Portugal. There is also no waiter service to order drinks from by the pool and it’s not that clear where to go to. It has all the makings of being a great place but the lack of staff makes it feel like it’s running on a bare minimum. Breakfast has a lot of choice but not always the best quality food-you need to get there before 9:30am if you don’t want to queue.
