Reviews for Elba Palace Golf & Vital Hotel

Wonderful golf experience at Elba Palace hotel and golf resort.

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 days ago

Our stay at Elba Palace Hotel and Golf Resort was exceptional. We received a wonderful welcome, beautiful room with balcony view of pool and golf course and expert care and attention throughout our stay. Staff in both hotel and golf shop were professional, courteous, efficient and friendly. Breakfast was wonderful and perfect pre golf preparation. A la Carte dinner provided local and international cuisine and there was a lovely atmosphere in the bar with entertainment most evenings. Having the golf course on our doorstep was the icing on the cake adding to the golf experience.

Great escape from British Winter

Looking at previous reviews, we didnt know what to expect. Needn't have worried. We had a super week. Charming hotel and surroundings. Room was spotless and very comfortable. All the staff were excellent too. Very friendly and helpful. If I'm being picky, I think the breakfast offering isnt as good as many similar Starred Hotels. But it was OK and what we had was nice. Comments about the golf course are generally correct, but the bad bits are probably outside their control. (Buildings and winds blowing sand from bunkers) Greens were well above expectations, putted nicely and very true. Overall, very happy with our week.

A touch of old fashioned class

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

There are a lot of positives to say about the Elba Palace, firstly it’s a smaller hotel so its quiet even when its full this is especially appreciated during meal times. The restaurant for evening meals is a menu table service so avoiding the bun fight over food at some buffet restaurants we have experienced. This made the eating experience very relaxed and enjoyable. The quality of the food from the menu can be a little mixed we definitely had some very good meals but also a couple that didn’t live up to expectations but in general they were good. Something we like is they do stick to the dress code in the restaurant all hotels of a certain level have the same rules but few stick to them. So, if you like going to dinner in your Man Utd kit go somewhere else there is a MacDonalds about 25 minutes walk away. The rooms are a good size ours over looked the swimming pool which put us above the cafeteria, the golf societies would gather here after their rounds so it did get noisy at times. The bathroom has a separate shower and bath plus twin basins again a very good size. A free safe is included and the Wi-Fi signal in the room is good enough to run YouTube. The hotel is aging now and due a refurbishment we found a few things that didn’t quite work as they should but they didn’t spoil our stay. The golf course on site is 18 holes and has a good practice range with chipping and putting areas. One complaint, even if staying in the hotel there was a €7 charge every time you used the range plus the cost of the balls this has not been my experience at other golf hotels who only charge non guests. If playing the course that day the range was then included in the green fee. The gym is free to use so why charge to use the range? The staff at the Elba were all friendly and helpful even the guy who looks after the range who I annoyed by constantly picking up other people’s balls (well if they can only hit them 30 yards, I going get them right?) was reasonably pleasant about it. A quick mention of the entertainment, it was only four of the ten nights we stayed but the quality level was high. If not playing golf the part of Caleta de Fuste where this hotel is situated is the quieter part of town you can walk there in about 25 to 30 minutes, there is a free courtesy bus but the first pick up is 10.50 and the last bus back is 12:25 so its good for one way or a very short visit. In conclusion the hotel has an old-fashioned style which is a good thing as far as we were concerned, if golfing its an ideal location but I would not suggest staying here if looking for a beach holiday with many other attractions

Our fourth visit

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

This is our 4th visit. Friendly staff, love the size of the hotel, its quiet, convenient and on the golf course which is the main purpose of our visit. Quick check in, given a pool view room which we requested and was sent a complimentary bottle of cava and chocolates to the room. The staff in the hotel and the golf course /pro shop are all so friendly and it's nice to be remembered by many of them. The hotel as always is spotlessly clean but it really does need a cosmetic overhaul. .Rooms need an update .Chair cushions in the courtyard and 19th hole need renewing. .Chipped bowls in the breakfast restaurant need replacing .teapots need replacing .jacuzzi in the spa needs a deep clean and repairs. Meals are still hit and miss but I agree there is definitely an improvement, but there is still more room for improvement. The jacuzzi in the spa was too cold for comfort despite asking several times for it to be warmed up. Someone on reception said it was room temperature - it needs to be body temperature or above, so could someone please have a look at this. The hotel was full all the time we were there as was the golf course so surley some investment back int the hotel is long overdue. We will return.
