Reviews for Gran Melia Palacio de Isora

A great first 5* hotel experience

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 days ago

We stayed at the hotel for 7 nights as a couple in a junior suite, all inclusive. The hotel is beautifully kept, with no rubbish left anywhere, very little maintenance in progress and very cleanly kept rooms. However, there are a lot of flies and some of them bite! I would recommend the hotel keeps areas of food differently, keeping doors closed and all buffet food covered, more citronella candles and consider Venus fly traps in with all the beautiful foliage. The food was absolutely gorgeous and we had 3 restaurant meals included (the Italian and the asian) which were delicious. The service was always amazing when it was being given, but there were occasions when it could be a little slow and if you're looking for the 'catered on' experience, I'd suggest this isn't for you. The rooms were kept really well, however the water and amenities in the room weren't replenished automatically and pool do have to reqiest it from customer services if you need it. I disagree with other reviews in that there is not a lot to do. There are sport courts (extra cost to rent), a spa (free 90 minute circuit for us), free fitness and pool classes, Nightly entertainment and even some jewellery/soap making classes! The adult only pool (heated) was a must for us and the beach was just across the hotel with a nice walking/running path of about 3k one way. All in all, it was a lovely week but the different levels (e.g. red, all inclusive, circle etc.) Made it difficult to understand what was and wasn't included and definitely segregated customers quite definitively. Beautiful hotel, lovely staff, super clean and plenty to do.

Fabulous hotel with freindly staff

Fabulous hotel. Our room was lovely. We stayed on a B&B basis, the breakfast was fabulous. The hotel is lovely and clean. The pool is amazing. The staff were all friendly and welcoming. Our only complaint is the price of drinks in the bar, we only went once when to watch a show. The hotel is in a great location to explore some of the unspoilt surrounding areas, a walk in both directions along the promenade is a must.

Amazing

Absolutely amazing stay at this hotel just now in may and also January this year We have stayed at the hotel 6 times it’s a definite must for luxury stays . Yes there where a few flys due to the plantation next door yet we personally didn’t feel like it spoilt the stay , It’s beyond the hotels control and they are doing all they can to stop them being a pain. The hotel is beautiful, great pools great service . Fabulous bars and entertainment highly recommended. Red level is great if you can do it as loads more you get with stay x

Avoid at all costs.

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 days ago

The whole hotel site is plagued by biting flies. Avoid at all costs. They come from the excrement used for fertiliser of the banana plantation next door. A dreadful, dreadful holiday. My wife suffered 25 inflamed bites all over her body. Flies everywhere, poolside, restaurants, rooms.

Excellent Facilites, Staff and Sumptuous Rooms

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

Red Level at Gran Melia is well worth the extra expense. We went All-Inclusive and booked a ground floor room with large patio with whirlpool bath. Food excellent at all restaurants, particularly enjoyed the Pool Grill as they served the most wonderful fish. Red Level pool was heated and nice bar area and great pool and bar staff. Only downside is getting booked into the restaurants is quite difficult and a re-think is needed to allow for a more inclusive experience. We felt that as we were not aware that you could book before you arrived that we had missed out on our first choices. However, we were only there for four nights and there was only one restaurant that they could not eventually squeeze us in to. Lovely staff, clean and pristine grounds, rooms and communal areas. We will be back!
