Pros: 1. Staff are courteous and professional – great service. 2. All but two restaurants are indoors. 3. Spacious pools. 4. Beach is nice with very little seaweed. 5. Plenty of beach towels. 6. All rooms face the ocean. 7. One of the cleanly maintained rooms. Cons: 1. Resort shows its age. 2. Construction noise during daytime. 3. The buffet (Vina Del Mar) – not many food choices and inconveniently located on a lower level. Restaurants: All of them require reservations, so make yours right after checking in. 1. Torii: Japanese sushi and teppanyaki – Sushi bar do not require reservation, so we went there often just to have sushi/sashimi as appetizers – we liked the crunch rolls. The Teppanyaki requires reservation and the chefs were entertaining. 2. Chianti: Italian and pizza – service was great, but the food was sub-par. Waste of great ingredients. Skip this one, unless you just want pizza, which does not require reservation. 3. Isla Contoy: Seafood – one of two outdoor restaurants. Great for lunch (try the ribeye sandwich), since the buffet is crappy. For dinner, don’t sit near the ocean. Too dark and too many mosquitoes. Try to sit in the middle under the fans. Grilled shrimp and beef ribs were great. 4. La Joya: Traditional Mexican – Mariachi band will come to your table and sing for you. Main course portions are small, so order lots of appetizers. 5. The Havanna Club: Steak house – Features tango dancing duo (looked like they didn’t like each other but put on a good show). We recommend the ribeye steak. Summary: The resort needs some renovations, but the room and the grounds were clean. Seems to cater to family with young kids or elder crowd. Played mostly 80’s/90’s songs. Food was ok, but the service were above average.

Awesome, better than expected. The La Joya Restaurant and the Maricachi Aventurero band was a great experience, that with our servers, Fernando and Rodrigo, it was top notch.

Amazing experience! Great people, great service, great food! The water was amazing and the hotel has a classical luxury feel to it.

We had dinner at La Basilic and Jonathan was our server for a 9 course meal. The food was amazing, the service was amazing, the ballet dancers were amazing, and so was the pianist.

This hotel is luxurious and beautiful! The staff was always gracious and helpful and encouraged my attempts at speaking Spanish! :) The fresh flowers were lovely, the pool was marvelous, and the food for our conference was scrumptious!
