About the Hotel

Nestled along the beach in Cancun's hotel zone, the JW Marriott Cancun Resort & Spa constitutes a quiet refined oasis among the surrounding din. Elegant details set the resort apart from its peers. A delicate flower scent permeates the welcoming lobby and guests can frolic around four outdoor swimming pools. The infinity-edged main pool threads through the landscaped grounds and fronts the pristine powdery sand. Jump the diving pool's deep end and explore the built-in artificial reef. Dotted with beach chaise loungers and shady palapas, the 700-foot beach beckons to linger. The cerulean ocean is the resort's ubiquitous backdrop and all 448 rooms have private balconies where to take in the view. Appointed in classic style, roomy accommodations (the smallest measures 465 square feet) feature sitting areas with lively color accents, wireless Internet access, 32-inch flat-panel televisions and twice-daily maid service. Bathrooms are exquisitely marble-bedecked with separate tubs and showers.

Alternative to All Inclusive

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

Until this trip, we have only stayed at all-inclusive resorts in Cancun. We don't drink enough to justify the added expense, so this time around we tried the NON all-inclusive JW Marriott. During the booking process I saw the Club 91 room for $70 more per night and we went with that. And that was the best decision I could have made. What's Club 91? Basically it's a buffet restaurant and bar on the 14th floor. As a Club 91 guest, your room key gets you through the door. Once inside the basic perks are: 1) Buffet breakfast with omelette station, 2) Lunch buffet, 3) Dinner buffet, 4) Open bar from 6pm to 10pm. Everything is unlimited. Bloody Marys and mimosas are available at breakfast, cans of Mexican beer for lunch and dinner, and an open bar from 6pm to 10pm. Want 2 or 3 or 6 beers to take back to your room? Just ask. I found it strange though that they did not have snacks like chips, candy bars, etc outside of the three meal service times as this would have made the experience just about perfect. You're at the mercy of whatever the menu happens to be at any particular meal. While we were there we experienced Japanese night, Italian night, and Mexican night. The features at breakfast and lunch change daily as well. For the most part, there is usually SOMETHING there for even the pickiest of eaters. The alternative to Club 91 is eating at the restaurants on site, or going off property. We did neither except for lunch by the pool. From looking at the menus, and peeking inside, they looked very upscale, with prices appropriate for an upscale restaurant. The Thai restaurant doubles as the provider for poolside food service only with a typical pool bar menu instead of Thai. We ate lunch by the pool twice and both times the food was exceptional. We had a burger, a Cuban sandwich, and chips and guacamole at reasonable prices. Our room was spacious with a large balcony and a beautiful ocean view. I'm not much of a review writer and the main reason I wanted to write anything at all was to recognize some of the staff. At Club 91, Ludin was fabulous! Marriott is lucky to have him. Crystal was always eager to get us anything we wanted and always with a big smile. Luis cooked our omelettes, showed us how to make guacamole the Cancun way, again, always with a smile. At the pool, our servers were Benjamin, Gustavo, and Jorge. All 3 were exceptional. We look forward to returning to the Cancun JW Marriott.

JW Marriott Escape

You cannot go wrong with any JW Marriott, this one is the best on the beach. Pools are clean, beach is perfect. We rented a cabana, enjoyed champagne, snacks and music. Walking distance is the Dolphin experience, totally do that the return for amazing sunset dinner.

Third visit just as good if not better than first 2

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

Third time visiting the JW and 2nd time doing club. Upgraded at club at check in for Marriott Plat price of $160 + tax per day. Well worth it the club staff and experience is incredible. Did breakfast and lunch there each day and quality was great. Did HH there for a drink before dinner then went off property for dinner. Tons of restaurants across the street that are great. The staff at the pool is incredible with top notch service. The pool itself is better than pictures. It’s massive never had to fight for chairs. This is one of the best non all inclusive options in Cancun.

Grand suite very comfortable

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

Visited with my daughter for a week during her vacation. Very happy overall with hotel, nice staff, grand suite was great to share with her (extra 1/2 bath, comfortable pull out couch). We had breakfast included and it was very good buffet every day. The food at the spanish restaurant was our favorite dinner at the hotel, our food at Harry's down the road was our favorite of vacation. Rented a cabana for week and the service was excellent (though I will say I saw excellent service everywhere at the pool). The shade and extra plush cabana and loungers and view made the cabana a good choice. Had cabana #4 and I think #3 and #4 were the best located of all the poolside cabanas. 4/5 only because lunches got boring, only one restaurant opened that time of day. A little more variety would be appreciated!
