Great resort for family vacation

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

We had a Junior Suite Double Beachfront with a king bed and full bed. Room was spacious enough for a family of 4, and we really liked being able to walk out directly to the beach. Our room came with a cabana directly in front of our patio, but there was another cabana right in front. We also had access to 6th floor, which had much better drinks and a pool table and foosball table. In terms of food, we only tried the Italian restaurant and were not impressed, but we enjoyed the buffet restaurant (especially for breakfast!). They had vegetarian options every day (incl. vegan tacos by the pool), though they could have offered a couple more options (e.g. the quesadillas often had meat, but quesadillas can be an easy veg option. that said, i just asked them to make me quesadillas w/ no meat and they did). I wouldn't say the food was amazing but it was good enough. The pools were a bit cold but it didn't stop my younger kid from enjoying, and they warmed up as the sun came out. They do allow floats. My 8yo enjoyed the kid pool and slides too (they have a pirate ship with small slides, and then two bigger slides but there is a height limit so big kids/adults can't use slides). The hours for big slides are 11-1 and 3-5. There are fewer lounge chairs around kid pool. They had a lot of daytime activities that you could join (water zumba, beach volleyball 2x day, other sports on the beach at set times, bracelet making by the pool, shows etc), and a 45 min. show every night. There is less to do in the evening for kids/teens b/c resort is smaller - e.g some resorts have an arcade and this one doesn't. Overall, it's a great family resort.  It's smaller than most resorts in the Maya Riviera but on bright side everything is a short walk in the resort. The beach is great too, though there were bigger waves than I expected but that had to do with the weather, I think. All the staff are SO kind.

Very Impressed

Great hotel for the following: Beach - amazing and clean Food - Excellent options and attention to detail - including the buffet Rooms - Very well laid out and immaculately clean Grounds - Very smartly laid out. Even at full capacity, never felt crowded One one negative - but will vary based on people preferences Entertainment - Some good shows, but not long. So the rest of the night, very boring. Not a good place if you want nightlife. If you leave resort go clubbing then not an issue. But if staying with teens on site, very boring.

Filiberto at the Italian place is th best waiter I’ve ever had. He went out of his way to get us everything we needed. The other waiters were good too but Filiberto is the best!

We LOVED the Sunscape!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 days ago

When I first walked in, my first initial opinion was the place felt small. I was worried we were going to get bored and there wouldn't be enough to do. Boy was I wrong. By the second day, I had completely changed my mind. The resort has little hidden pockets everywhere and was larger than I had first noticed. The staff, particularly the entertainment staff (Pedro- we are talking to you!!!), could not have been better if they tried. They were so upbeat, friendly and fun and kept us entertained by the pool and beach all day long. Pedro became a friend after day two and the rest of the crew was amazing as well. The kids loved all the daily activities and also couldn't wait to go hang in the kids club. The kids club was big and had a good amount of "friends" for them to play with. They were constantly offering a fun craft, dance party or sport and my 4 and 6 year old had a blast visiting them. Dropping the kids off isn't something I would normally do, but the staff was so sweet and inviting that we felt completely comfortable leaving them randomly for an hour at a time. The rooms were clean, had great air conditioning and ceiling fans and were very comfortable. We had a pull out couch for the kids and a beautiful balcony overlooking the ocean and the pool. I let the resort know that we were there for my husbands 40th and the room was decorated upon arrival. Such a nice sweet touch. The food was GREAT. All inclusive generally only had subpar food, which we normally just expect at this point, but I wasn't upset by one meal I ate at this resort. Even the buffet was really good. The nacho bar at lunch and the watermelon water for breakfast were definitely family favorites. Mariella was the best hostess that always made sure we were happily taken care of. Aside from that, there was an asian restaurant, Italian, steakhouse, burgers and dogs (lunch only) and Mexican restaurant. Im not sure which we likes most. All great. The spa was nice and I had a massage and facial on the beach. Relaxation on top of relaxation- yes please! The best part about this resort was the value. I didn't leave feeling ripped off AT ALL for what we received. The price was very fair and we would go back time and time again. Can't wait for next year!!
