Good stay which could be great if…

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 23 hours ago

Two years ago i stayed with my 2 kids and had a mixed experience so wanted to try again. The front desk did this time a better job in welcoming us which was appreciated. Just wondering why i took the time to reply to Chloé and her pre-arrival email as my wishes had not been noted, so had to repeat them. Not palace feel. The Junior Suite was spacious, very nicely decorated, good amenities and an amazing bathrobe that i would have liked to take home! The cleaning staff is doing an amazing job which should be highloghted. Always polite, saying hello and very nice. I pre-booked my transats this time so that it was much better, no bad experience. Recommend this to be done pre-arrival. The real improvements area is the breakfast. For a palace, it is not at the level expected. We were nicely welcome and could choose seating areas, inside, outside and this was very nice indeed to take the breakfast on the terrasse. The staff at entrance is really nice and professional, I was impressed. And then it stopped. The staff outside is not focused, not taking the order properly, weird. The choice at the buffet (apart from the fact that champagne and vodka can be taken) is not at a palace level. Good stuff have to be paid for although you have breakfast included or have paid 48€ for the Continental breakfast. For example, a ginger shot will cost you 8€!!! The cheese choices are really limited (only low quality cheese at the buffet, cost saving?). You have to pay for omelette, or crepes; and so on, this is not the right concept at all for this kind of hotel. To be amended. Fruits and pastries are good though. Spa, gym and pool are great. Beach too but kitchen closing at 15.00 and last drink at 17.00 is a bit too early. Such a nice spot should have transats until 19.00 or even 20.00. Why closing down at 18.00. The staff starts to clean at 17.00, it is too early and create a stressy atmosphere. They are running everywhere to have the bill set and collect towels. Beach staff is uneaven, some really caring others not really. No one asks you how are doing or if you want to order anything and you have to go and find them if you are thirsty. So some improvements possible behind a recognized name. Treat all your customers with care instead of selecting those with fancy cars!

Hotel bar at Hotel Martinez awful

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

This review is for the hotel bar as we are guests staying at the hotel. Worst experience I have ever had at a hotel bar. Asked to sit at an empty area and they suggested our group of 4 is too small for the space - 5 minutes later seated a group of 3. Took forever to get served and no one bothered to check with us following up at all. Chased someone down to get the bill and 15 minutes later no one arrived. Had to go to the bar/exit before I could get the bill. Don’t waste your time plenty of better bars in the area.

Awful Hotel Martinez

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 days ago

The Hotel was our final 5 star hotel. We stayed at the Park Hyatt in Paris which was superb. We also stayed at Hotel Juana in Antibes and Hotel Le Mediterranean in Nice. All generous 5 star properties. When we arrived in Cannes, the Martinez would not give us the appropriate rooms we booked. Eventhough we had a print out of the booking. We booked a suite for us, and a deluxe room for the kids through RBC travel. We had the appropriate travel print outs, when we got to check in they said this is not what they had for us. They put us in 2 basic rooms looking onto the street with no view. For $15 000 this was a disgrace. They had a sea view suite available on Expedia but still wouldn’t allocate the correct rooms. Have never had such an awful experience and have travelled all over the world. They ruined our final 3 days.

To hot, no fans

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 days ago

I wanted to have lunch on the beach, but it was simply impossible. The terrace was unbearably hot, and there wasn’t even a fan to make it more comfortable. So I went inside the hotel, hoping the terrace there would be better, but unfortunately, it was exactly the same — no shade, no fans, and far too hot to actually enjoy the meal. The food is OK, and this could be a really nice place, but the heat makes it impossible to enjoy. I honestly don’t think people should have to suffer through such extreme heat just to have lunch.
