Reviews for Hotel Martinez

Not clean, not worth the money

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

We visited with family, including small children’s and unfortunately this was nothing close to a 5 star hotel. We were very excited to stay here but we ended up with dirty shower, mold that was painted over, big stain on pillow and towels, mini fridge not opening and nobody came to fix it although we called a few times, and just overall had a very bad experience.

Best hotel experience in the world with the best people

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

I had the most beautiful, memorable stay! So thankful for making me feel more than at home. Hotel Martinez has the best team of people that I ever met in any hotel and I travel quite a lot all around the world to the best hotels. I have not experience this level of service and kindness and human connection from the people working at the hotel even at Aman hotels. I can't thank enough for the kindness and top class service that the whole team of Hotel Martinez extended to me. You truly feel seen and understood at this hotel. There is truly no place like this in the world. Especially Lisa has been the absolute best in taking care of us. Every day she made sure that we enjoy ourselves and have the best time and what especially touched my heart was the fact that she is just an amazing person that truly, genuinely cares. I feel so incredibly grateful to be look after by her. I was excited to come back but I couldn't imagine that all of these experiences will be awaiting for me here, my stay exceeded all my expectations. I felt so welcomed and Lisa did the impossible to surprise me and at some point I was speechless and just felt so grateful and so thankful that I got to meet her. I felt so happy every moment of my stay and I have the team of Hotel Martinez to thank for, and Lisa! The extent she went into just to really make sure she gets the best for us was just, wow. She has a gift of making people feel magic. The breakfast team at Hotel Martinez is unmatched!! Elena, the sweetest person, Chloe and everyone at breakfast. It was my favorite time of the day to hang out at breakfast. There is nothing that these wonderful people wouldn't do to make you happy, and that is so rare to see. They go above and beyond. Also thank you to Yazmin from the Guest Relations team, who made sure we have a magical time during fireworks and it was truly such a nice conversation, that made me realize before I came again this time, why I want to come and it reminded me, why Martinez is so special to me. After arrival, everything was like a dream. And again, Lisa made the impossible possible for us since the moment we arrived and I will not forget that. Hotel Martinez is so very lucky to have her. I would like to also specially thank Lucile, from the concierge team for saving and tracking my luggage that has been missing the whole time. She is possibly the best person that I ever saw in a concierge department at the best hotels around the world. She showed so much dedication to helping me find a solution. Only thanks to her contacts my luggage was located after 5 days of not knowing its location. Thank you! Actually, the whole team of people that I just mentioned showed so much compassion, so much care, and were actively looking to help find my luggage. It made my heart so happy to see that I am not alone in this kind of situation. And I appreciated that more than anything. Despite not having my luggage during the whole trip, thanks to all these people, I really had the best trip and just felt so genuinely happy. I had the best stay. The personal touch and level of care I experienced is unmatched and I know that is so incredibly hard to come by this. Also Léa from the concierge team was absolutely wonderful - got us the best tables and reservations without us even having to ask for it, we were very touched by that too. And also Vincent at the beach was amazing, so kind, he took such a great care of us each day and also the girls that are handling the sun beds were so kind and nice and made us feel so welcomed at the beach. There is truly no place like Hotel Martinez. I cant wait to be back very soon and to see everyone again. I would truly come solely to just spend more time with the people at Hotel Martinez, moments with them were that special to me. Thank you so much, for everything. This has become my favorite hotel.

Impressive 5 Star Experience exceeded only by 6 Star Location and Staff

Outstanding hotel on the beach in Cannes. Wonderful architecture and recently remodeled. The staff were wonderful, super friendly, not snobby but very helpful and always with a smile. The breakfast was absolutely immense, it reminded us of the hotel we stayed in Hong Kong, it was that good. Don't miss it, it is worth the price. The beach club was very fun and the drinks and my swim in the Med were joyful. Thank you, we will be baack for a much longer stay next time.

Hyatt Globalists Beware

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

I am not a big hotel reviewer, but wanted to do a review of my recent stay here just as a cautionary tale for other Hyatt Globalists that might be going. Ahead of my stay, I worked with Hyatt concierge to confirm a suite upgrade using a globalist certificate. The upgrade was confirmed by the hotel via email and on my Hyatt app. I particularly wanted this upgrade due to a recent knee injury, as most of the suites for the upgrade have walk in showers while the other rooms have bathtubs that are quite tall and you have to climb in to the shower, which if you have a knee injury can be both painful and dicey. Anyways, upon arrival the check in person told me the upgrade was in process (my mistake for not confirming with him the exact upgrade...) and the room would be ready around 15h but 16h latest, which is the guaranteed check in time. He indicated he would keep in touch and call me with the updated time and we could just wait at the pool until the room was ready, and he took all our credit card etc information. We went directly to the pool area after changing, and at the pool we were told sorry you are not in the system we can't let you in. So we stood there trying to make our case we just checked in, we were brought up here to hang out until the room was ready but we were stonewalled until I convinced him to call the desk and then after 5-10 minutes we were finally allowed in, after feeling like gatecrashers. Around 16h15 we still had no communication from the hotel, so I called the front desk and was told the room was not ready, and that guaranteed time was 16h so I needed to wait. I noted to the person it was already 16h15 and was told yeah but maybe 17h. At 17h15 I went down and was told the room was not ready, maybe soon. At 17h45 it was finally ready. I went to the room and was getting ready and then realized it was not the suite but a different room, with the difficult climb in tub/shower. I went to the front desk and she said well we don't have you upgraded to a suite sorry, and then we went back and forth and I showed her the email from the hotel and then she said yeah okay I will work on this and maybe tomorrow we will have an answer. So in the end, we wasted 4 hours at the pool waiting for a room, only to be given the wrong room. Day 1 in Cannes was a bust... The next day we were told the suite would be ready in the afternoon, but had no word until 16h30 and that the room was ready to be viewed, and while we had prepared all our luggage for the room change, they never offered to take care of this. By this time it was almost 17h and no offers of help to change rooms from the hotel, it was then too late to try to arrange all this before heading out to dinner, so I told the hotel to forget it, we would keep the room. One only wants to waste so much of a short vacation on this sort of thing. Then finally, on the third day, the night before checkout, the hotel emailed me to apologize for everything and offered a free lunch the following afternoon, which of course was check out day and I was leaving late morning for my flight, so this was of no use. So at this point I had lost out on the upgrade and had no help from the hotel to address the issue and not until day 3 even an acknowledgement that we had been disrupted. No explanation was offered as to why a globalist should be given a check in at 18h and the wrong room, etc. Anyways, at checkout, I was not even asked how my stay was, and a while later they called me to apologize and offered to cover the drinks at the pool while we waited the first day, and the cost of the cabana rental on day two (about 750 euros). Then the next day they also offered a bunch of points as an apology, but then later emailed to say they would not after a refund the cabana! I've never had a hotel offer an apology credit and then change their mind, but at this point I was just done with the process. In the end, my suggestion is that any other globalists going there and using an upgrade certificate, make double sure to get email confirmation directly from the hotel in advance, and then confirm your room type on check in. The employees don't follow up with you and I was basically having to beg them to give me information on when the room would be ready and why I was given the wrong type. The hotel is of course nice, in a great location, but while I have now been there three times, I would never go back as I think that high end hotels charging 1500+ euros a night and make a mistake, need to take ownership of that mistake early on and fix it, not bounce you around like a hot potato for three days. No one in the process took ownership of the problems, it was always someone else's to fix, and that's why nothing gets done. I've had similar issues at other hotels with room problems, but they have always been dealt with seamlessly and professionally, not like this.

Elegant Hotel

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

This famous hotel is well designed. The rooms (we got upgraded to a junior suite) are in wonderful harmonic white and light colours, with a comfortable bed and a spacious bathroom. The pool is very comfortable and the concierge (thank you Maxime) has great advice for Cannes. Only thing that surprised us was that the beach club was constantly booked (despite being empty throughout the day) and had no discount for hotel guests, which questions a bit the ambitious price point of this hotel.
